-Says focus is on people, programs, culture
Another formidable young politician, Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo, ACPIM, CIPM, has joined the Chairmanship race for the Ikorodu Local Government.
Olosugbo, who was a former Councillor and Council Leader, Ikorodu Local government, declared his intention to run on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In his declaration letter sent to party leaders and other stakeholders, the young aspirant whose aspiration is themed, “THE PATH TO GREATNESS”, emphasized the need to salvage the Ikorodu Local Government and place it on the path of economic, social and political developments.
According to him, his campaign mantra is focusing on “People, Programs and Culture”.
He sought the support of the party leaders and the generality of Ikorodu people for his aspiration to become the next Chairman of Ikorodu LG.
“I hope this meets you well! Having resolved within myself, my immediate family and also, after wide consultations with my political family and amongst stakeholders of our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC), I, hereby, with a sense of duty and responsibility, communicate my resolve to offer myself to serve as the CHAIRMAN of Ikorodu Local Government”, Olosugbo said in his declaration.
“This my resolve becomes necessary because it is geared towards rescuing our dear Council and placing it on “THE PATH TO GREATNESS”.
“I am conscious of your contributions, influence and standing as an effective political leader and as important social-economic factor within and outside this great party on which platform I seek to get the political mandate I seek”.
While offering himself to lead the council on the “THE PATH TO GREATNESS”, Olosugbo said that he has the capacity to manage the human and material resources very effectively, and also discharge his responsibilities creditably, if giving the chance.
“It is very pertinent to note that our dear Council needs, more than ever before, a trusted, experienced, pragmatic and proactive manager of human and material resources capable of rediscovering our greatness by maximizing her potentials and instituting a culture of sustainable growth that would eventually lead to enduring development with positive impacts on the generality of our people”, he said.
“As a young man that is cognizant of the huge investment our party and the generality of lkorodu people have vested in him, I deem it an appropriate time to give back and put to use the knowledge, talent and experience acquired over the years, at the services of our people.
“Therefore, I am offering myself to take our council to greater height. We are great people with great destiny”, he added.
While stating that he has good knowledge of the Council administration as a former Council Leader, Olosugbo also stated that he has advanced himself educationally and that he’s also an entrepreneur which, according to him, has prepared him to effectively manage the council.
He listed internally generated revenue (IGR), security, youth development and others as some of the areas that his administration will be focusing on.
“I have had the privilege of serving this Local Government as the Majority Leader of the Legislative Arm for two consecutive terms and afterwards, I became an entrepreneur of good standing. I am, therefore, not coming from nowhere but yielding to my better-informed instinct and stronger zeal to contribute more to the greatness of my local government which, at this very auspicious time, demands revamping”, he said.
“Ikorodu is so populated now and as such blessed with Internal Generated Revenue potentials that should work in our favour year-in-year-out; our security architecture needs to be strengthened and supported; the multifaceted talents of our highly conscious youths demand urgent engagement for positive re-branding of Ikorodu Local Government.
“The foregoing are my dreams for a greater Ikorodu, which I am sure also forms part of your bigger dreams, hence, the need for the collaboration of ideas, for which I am seeking your approval and support for my aspiration. This is not an ambition merely to occupy a political office but a strong-will for selfless services to the people and the indigenous Local Government”, he said while pleading for support.
He assured his party leaders and residents of Ikorodu of actions through practical performances if elected as the next Council Chairman of Ikorodu LG.
“Through this letter, I am communicating my sincere intention which is targeted and aimed at rediscovering our collective dreams and ensure there realization. I have no doubt that you will have a positive disposition towards this and encourage me”, he said.
“In submission, on my part, I shall, as a youth who is conscious of my family name and future, promise to live up to my words and back it up with ACTIONS through PRACTICAL PERFORMANCES, and ensure that our great party’s manifesto is actualized at the council level and also put in place an enduring and sustainable council programs for the people with credible advice from party leaders.
“My campaign mantra is focusing on the foregoing: People, Programs and Culture. I so pledge!”
The Chairmanship aspirant holds Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science & Resource Management (National Open University of Nigeria), 2024; Post Graduate Diploma (PGD), Project Management America Charter Institute of Project Management, 2023; Ordinary National Diploma (OND), Lagos State Polytechnic, 2011.
His professional qualifications includes: Certificate in Auto –Card Design; Diploma in Project Management; Charter Institute of Project Management, Ghana; Advanced Certificate Health Safety and Environmental Management (HSE Level 3 and Associate Member, Charter Institute of Project Management), Ghana.
Politically, Olosugbo identifies with the progressives party from inception as a foundation member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) later Action Congress (AC), Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and now the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was also Member, Alliance Youth Congress (AYC).
He was the Coordinator – General, Onward Movement of Nigeria, the operational arm of the former Majority Leader, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hin. Sanai Agunbiade.
In his political journey, Hon. Azeez Jimoh Olosugbo was appointed as the Political Assistant to Hon. Olanrewau Sunmi Odesanya, Member, Lagos State House of Assembly, 2003 – 2007; Elected Councilor, Ward F (Sholafun/Agbele); Elected Majority Leader, Legislative Arm, Ikorodu Local Government, 2008 – 2011; Re – Elected as Councilor Ward F (Shlafun/Agbele), 2008 – 2011; Elected as Leader of the Council, Ikorodu LG, 2011 – 2014 and served as the Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Councilor’s Forum, 2011 – 2014.
He has also attended many seminars.
