The Iyaloja General of Ikorodu, Deaconess Busola Isikalu (BUSIQ) has been honoured with a special award for her impacts on the development of markets in Ikorodu.
She was bestowed with the Special Impact Award by the Positive Impact Media, Abuja, at her office located on the first floor of the Ikorodu Plaza, Ita Elewa, Ikorodu, during the week.
But the ceremony was not just about the award, as the occasion also served as an avenue to improve traders’ sales and finance for their trades, as they were engaged in a seminar on, “The Use of Technology in Improving Their Trades”.
Officials from the First City Monument Bank (FMCB) Headquarters, who also graced the occasion, also had a business session on the importance of transacting with the bank and the opportunities available to traders banking with the bank, especially women.
In addition, representative of the Health Garde International engaged chieftains and members of the association on the importance of their health and offered drugs and treatments for various diseases and ailments.
The Director, Positive Impact Media, Chief Abi – Abiola, speaking on the award, said that Deaconess Isikalu was honoured because of her impacts.
“As an organization, we usually honour good people who have made impacts while alive so as to continue to do good and show good examples to others to emulate”, he said.
“Since her emergence, markets in Ikorodu have improved. Markets that are not functioning before now have been revived and there are new associations which pointed to her leadership qualities and visions.
“She has been the rallying point for traders in Ikorodu Division, and ensuring that markets in Ikorodu are catching up as an emerging city market”, he added.
Mr Joshua Adediran Adedapo, Chief Executive Officer, Positive Impact Media, who handled the seminar session on ‘The Use Of Technology ln lmproving Trade”, charged traders to align themselves with the new realities and trends so as to grow their businesses.
He said that the mobile phones, aside being used to call their suppliers and customers, can also be used in trading their products.
The lecturer charged them to engage their children in assisting them to advertise their products and goods on the Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and social media.
The awardee and the Iyaloja General of Ikorodu Division, Deaconess Busola Isikalu, described the honour as the beginning of greater things to come to markets in Ikorodu Division.
“I thank God for the honour. It is a great thing and recognition to be acknowledged from Abuja. This is a beginning of a greater things to come”, she said.
“This is a recognition for Ikorodu and traders in Ikorodu Division. I have no doubt that our markets will continue to grow from strength to strength.
“I congratulate the entire traders in Ikorodu Division. We have witnessed many positive things and we can also see signs of many others to come within the short period of our emergence.
“The ceremony was not just about award presentations, but also a workshop for our traders and interactive sessions with officials of the FCMB and one other body. This will enhance their trades”, she said.
At the ceremony were Baba Oloja General, Chief Wasiu Jaiyesimi, Iyaloja General of Ogijo, Iyalojas and Babalojas from Ikorodu West LCDA, Ikorodu North LCDA, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA among other market chieftains.
