President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Friday, announced the appointment of several prominent individuals as chairmen and members of the Governing Councils of various Federal Universities, Polytechnics, and Colleges of Education across Nigeria.
Among over 500 names announced is the Ikorodu – born Architect, Arch. Taiwo Akintunde Kara who doubles as the Chairman, Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) and that of the Ikorodu Town Hall Management Board (ITHMB).
He was announced as Member of the Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic Ado – Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The reviewed list was issued by Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, the Permanent Secretary, General Services Office for in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the governing councils and boards of federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, for effective management of Nigerian tertiary institutions across the country”, the statement said.
The new appointment followed a directive from President Tinubu, to review and reconstitute the earlier list of council members, which had been criticized by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other stakeholders for alleged lopsidedness.
Prof. Ongoebi Maureen Etebu was appointed as the Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ado – Ekiti, while Sola Elesin, Aminu Takware and Barr. Tina Agbo are also members.
