Against all odds, Ikorodu City FC have gained promotion to the top flight Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) after defeating Madiba FC 2 – 0 in the play – off.
Ikorodu FC joined three other clubs that qualified from the Northern and Southern Conference play – off matches played today.
The Oga boys joined Beyond Limits FC which defeated Inter Lagos 1 – 0 in the other Southern Conference match.
With these feat, Ikorodu City, established just two years ago, and Beyond Limits, will be playing in the NPFL for the first time.
Nasarawa United and El-Kanemi Warriors also sealed the top two positions to return to the top flight.
While Nasarawa United of Lafia defeated Sporting Supreme 2-1 to finish in the top position with nine points, El-Kanemi Warriors defeated Sokoto United 4-1 to claim second spot.
Each team in the play-off played three matches with the top two from each of the Southern and Northern Conference gaining promotion to the NPFL.
