In commemoration of its third year anniversary and in ensuring effective service delivery to residents, the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiatives Limited (IDPIL) has donated a 40KVA generator and three – unit air conditioners to the Nigerian Immigration Office, Igbogbo Passport Office.
The donation, which was personally done by the IDPIL Chairman, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, and chieftains of the developmental group, took place on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
In attendance at the event were HRM Oba (Barr.) Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Odofin Tajudeen Onasanya, the Odofin of Igbogbo and other members of the Adeboruwa – in – Council, as well as Baales from Ikorodu and Igbogbo, chieftains of the Igbogbo Development Association (IDEA) led by Engr. Lateef Oduntan, and others.
Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, the Executive Secretary, IDPIL, in his welcoming address, said that the items were donated to aid the immigration office in good service delivery to the people.
“As part of our partnership with organisations and in commemoration of the IDPIL third year anniversary, we are presenting a 40 KVA generator, a new one and three air conditioner system”, he said.
“This we believe will enhance the effectiveness and efficient service delivery that we want for our people in Ikorodu Division. This will not be the last, because we will continue to do whatever that we can to assist the Immigration to discharge their responsibilities effectively and to the satisfaction of Ikorodu people”.
Chairman, IDPIL, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, emphasizing the Executive Secretary’s positions, also added that Ikorodu owes the immigration office responsibility to ensure that it operates successfully.
“We are doing this for Ikoropdu Division. We are very proud that the federal government has deemed lkorodu fit to bring this office here, and it is incumbent on us in Ikorodu to support in every way and manner the success of the Immigration Services in Ikorodu”, Odofin Ogunsanya said.
“Within less than two months of its operational, I met somebody that said that he came here and within days, he got his passport. What more can give anybody happiness than that and we must continue to give them our support and encouragement.
“I also met the head of the Immigration office, Mr Muyiwa, and he was a welcoming and amiable fellow.
“Aside these, we are still going to donate a photocopy machine and whatever it is that you want, do not hesitate to get in touch with us”, he said.
While speaking on IDPIL projects in Igbogbo, Odofin Ogunsanya also charged the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo on letting the group know projects that he wants them to execute for the community.
“We owe Igbogbo a lot. The IDPIL built a Magistrate Court in Igbogbo, and we still want to assist more. We have asked Kabiyesi to tell us which areas our assistance is needed, but we are still waiting on him to let us know”, he said.
“Although, Kabiyesi has mentioned something about the Mobile Police. We are going to build a camp for them and that is very important. It will enhance the security of the Division, and we have told Kabiyesi that we will do that”.
Oba Semiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, in his royal remarks, thanked the IDPIL Chiarman and his team for the laudable impacts that they are making on Ikorodu.
“We will continue to commend the IDPIL for its noble cause since its establishment. The IDPIL has been impacting positively on the entire Division, in terms of health, infrastructure, education, social and other areas”, the royal father said.
“With these, you have demonstrated to the whole world that you are not relenting in embarking on lofty ideas.
“I want to thank God for Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya’s life and every prayer said to him shall come to fruition, so also every other persons that are committed to the IDPIL cause”.
The royal father also thanked the administration of President Bola Tinubu, for bringing the passport office to his bkingdom.
“We are also appreciating the government of Nigeria, under the able leadership of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for bringing this facility to Ikorodu Division, and we will continue to ask for more so that this office can effectively serve the global community”, Oba Kasali said.
“We also thank the Governor of Lagos State and the council (Igbogbo-Bayeku LCDA), and we will continue to ask them to do the needful so that our community will continue to benefit from the responsibilities of good governance”.
The Immigration officer, who received the donated items on behalf of her boss, thanked the IDPIL for the laudable donations, and assured the group’s Chairman that they would not hesitate to get across to the IDPIL, for intervention.
Engr. Lateef Oduntan, speaking on behalf of the Igbogbo community, thanked IDPIL, especially its Chairman, for impacting positively.
