Mrs Ogunmefun Fehintola Folashade, the first runner up in the Best Teacher in the Senior Secondary Schools category in Education District II, Lagos State, has described the honour as incredible and testament to the good efforts put into the impacting of culture of excellence on the students.
She received the honour at the recently held Lagos State Education District II 18th Annual Merit Award.
Ogunmefun, who is a staff of the Lagos State Civil Service Model College, Igbogbo, received a Merit award in recognition of her invaluable contributions to education and relentless pursuit of excellence in Lagos State.
In a chat with THE IMPACT, Mrs Ogunmefun, who is woman of few words, also said that the honour would spur her to rededicate herself to be more inspired and innovative in teaching.
“Receiving this award is an incredible honor and a testament to the hard work and dedication of both myself and my students. Looking ahead, I’m committed to continuing to innovate and inspire, striving to raise the bar even higher, for education in Lagos State”, she said.
Recall that about 90 teaching and non-teaching staff were awarded in various categories at the award event.
Mr. Olaoye Oyekunle Toyese of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, and Mrs Otayomi Esther Remilekun of Ajekunle Senior High School, Kosofe, emerged as 2022 and 2023 Best Teachers in the senior category respectively, while Mrs Oredola Mary Orebukola of Community Junior High School, Alapere, and Mrs Odumusi Oluwakemi of Eva Adelaja Girls’ Junior Secondary School, Bariga, were awarded 2022 and 2023 Best Teachers in junior category respectively.
In attendance at the event were Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Alli-Balogun, Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, District ll, Mrs Anike Adekanye and other dignitaries.
