The outstanding efforts of the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Association (CDC) Chairman, Pastor Abayomi Adelakun, in the development of his community, has received recognition during the Ikorodu Man of the Year and Outstanding Personalities Award.
Pastor Adelakun was honoured with the Outstanding Community Builder of the year in the Community Service and Philanthropy category of the award event organized by the Starlite Magazine at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu, on Sunday, May 12, 2024.
The foremost community builder, who is a Chartered Accountant and Founder of the Adelakun Abayomi Footprints, and also the Grand Patron of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Ikorodu Division, has been in 16years active service to several communities in Igbogbo-Baiyeku LCDA.
Adelakun said that the award will spur him to be more committed to the service of his community and humanity in general.
“The reward of hard work is more work, in the months ahead, we go harder. I am proud to be amongst this year’s special awardees whose selfless dedication, passion, and commitment to community growth and development did not go unnoticed. This, for me, is a springboard to continuously serve and strive for excellence in community service delivery”, he said.

In a brief chat with the awardee, Pastor Adelakun dedicated the award to God, emphasizing that the honour and recognition that come with the prestigious award belongs to all past and living community developers, His wife, Princess Adelakun, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA Council Chairman, Builder Olusesan Daini, his immediate CDA, Owode-Ibeshe Joint CDAs, CDC Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA and all the ten (10) zones of CDC Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA which, according to him, are the supporting pillars behind his sterling accomplishments and recognition for the special award.
In his welcome address, the Convener of the Ikorodu Man of the year and Outstanding Personalities Award, Mr. Adedamola Aderibigbe, stated that the award ceremony was organised because of the progress and development recently being witnessed in Ikorodu Division.
According to him, the progress and development would not have happened without selfless commitments and contributions of many outstanding personalities who, in their various capacities, have distinguished themselves exceptionally.
“Today, we chose to celebrate these outstanding personalities who have contributed immensely to the progress and development of Ikorodu division.
“This is why we are coming together to recognize & celebrate their impeccable individual contributions to the development of Ikorodu division,” Mr. Aderibigbe averred.
At the award ceremony, the Senator representing the Lagos East Senator District, Senator Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru, FCA, emerged as the Ikorodu Division Man of the Year. He was honoured alongside other outstanding individuals.
The event was attended by dignitaries and guests.
