-Council boss, Hon. Gbadebo – Alogba urges residents to show kindness
The Chairman, Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, has continued with her support for the residents of her council area in a to limit the impact of the economic challenges in the country on them, with the presentation of N20, 000 each to 1000 beneficiaries.
Hon. Gbadebo – Alogba, who has been reaching out to many residents through cash gifts and food palliatives among other supports, presented the cash gifts to the residents at a ceremony held at the Ijede Council Secretariat on Tuesday, 7th May 2024, with commendations from the community leaders, party chieftains and other residents.
According to the Chairman, the cash support was aimed at continuing to cushion the effects of the current harsh economic conditions that the country is going through.
“I am very happy to welcome everyone to this occasion of the distribution of cash palliatives to residents of this Local Council Area today. We are having this programme today because this administration is aware of the challenges facing everyone in the context of the current state of the Nigerian economy”, she said.
“As part of our efforts to make life more comfortable to our people, my administration has made it a duty to be giving out food palliatives quarterly to our residents since we came into office, the last one being in April, just this last month.
“Today, we are distributing cash palliatives of twenty thousand naira (₦20,000) each to everyone.
“I sincerely believe that the distribution of this palliatives will have great impact on the lives of our citizens, and provide everyone with the much needed support in this challenging times.
While assuring the people in the grassroots that the political leaders managing the affairs of the country are capable of turning around the economy positively, she urged them to show concern for one another.
“Let me also use this opportunity to admonish all of us to spread kindness and support to one another”, she said.
“Let us, please, look out for each other and together, we will all overcome this challenging times by God’s grace.
“I urge everyone of us to be patient with our political leaders and to continue to pray for all to succeed in our agenda to make Nigeria better”, Hon. Gbadebo – Alogba added.
A two – term council Chairman, Ijede LCDA, and former representative, Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon Saheed Hassan Adefarasin, commended the council boss for her support for the people, since the inception of her administration.
He also assured the people of the President Bola Tinubu’s ability to turnaround the economy of the county for the better.
Hon. Fathiu Salisu, the immediate past Chairman, Ijede LCDA, also speaking, urged residents to continue to pray for President Tinubu and the Council Chairman, to enable them succeed.
The Regent of Ijede, High Chief Musediq Alliu, expressed his happiness and approval for what the council Chairman has been doing.
Also speaking, the Chief imam of Ijede LCDA, thanked the Chiarman and her Vice, for always answering them and implementing people’s oriented policies.
His Christian counterpart, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), ljede LCDA chapter, also speaking, said that residents are saying positive things about the Ijede LCDA’s administration and pray for the Council Chairman to sustain the good work.
Some of the beneficiaries speaking with THE IMPACT, also commended the Council Chairman for the gesture.
Alhaja Ogidan Adijat thanked Hon. Motunrayo for the cash support which she described as a good gesture that is much appreciated.
Another resident, Mr Lateef Adesina Anjorin, speaking, said:
“What I collected is a good thing. In fact, I am so happy with the Chairman. She always surprise us. Good things will never depart from her house.
“It’s good things that she has been doing for us, most especially we the market men and women as well as the farmers. She is making us happy. God will also make her happy”.
Mrs Titilayo Omotoye, who also expressed her happiness over the money giving to her, said that the cash support will be use judiciously.
Like others, she prayed for the council boss and her administration.
After the presentation of the cash support to the residents, Hon Motunrayo Gbadebo-Alogba inspected multiple ongoing projects in the LCDA, aimed at driving infrastructural development.
The projects that are penciled down for construction and rehabilitation are: Mayflower Street towards Falilat Ajoke Street, Ijede Student Library, construction of staff sick bay and canteen, and complete tiling of Ijede Town Hall.
The council boss, who led a delegation of management team to the project sites, noted that infrastructural development is key to maximizing the economic potential of the LCDA and attracting investment.
She further reiterated her administration’s commitment to deliver more people-oriented projects.
