The publisher of the foremost community newspaper in Nigeria, Alhaji Monzor Kolawole Olowosago, has been congratulated by eminent personalities, including the Senator representing the Lagos East, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, FCA, and the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, on his birthday.
Alhaji Olowosago, who is the Baroyin of Ikorodu Kingdom, clocked 73 today.
Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo and wife, Mrs Feyisola Abiru, in a statement today, commended Olowosago whom they described as the doyen of community journalism in Nigeria, for his contributions to the field of journalism.
“I join other eminent personalities in Ikorodu and across Nigeria, to celebrate the doyen of community newspapers in Nigeria, Chief (Dr) Monzor Kolawole Olowosago (the Baroyin of Ikorodu), Publisher, Oriwu Sun Newspaper, on his birthday”, the statement said.
” I salute his exploits and contributions to journalism in Nigeria, particularly community news reporting and publishing , where he has made a name for himself.
“Despite the high mortality rate of newspapers in Nigeria, from inception in 1985, Chief Olowosago weathered the storm, nurturing the Oriwu Sun Newspaper brand to become a household name in Ikorodu, Lagos State and across Nigeria.
“On this auspicious occasion, I join his family, friends, colleagues, and numerous well-wishers in wishing him a happy birthday. I pray that Almighty Allah grants him sound health as he ages gracefully. Ameen”, Senator Abiru and wife congratulated Alhaji Olowosago.
Also in another statement signed by Rep. Babajimi Benson, he said that the publisher depicts courage and tenacity, while wishing him a glorious birthday celebration.
“I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Publisher of the first Community Newspaper in Nigeria, Chief Monzor Olowosago, on the occasion of his birthday”, he said.
“You are an embodiment of courage, tenacity and exemplary role model.
“Your dedication to community journalism has made you the voice of the voiceless and a beacon of hope, especially in the growth and development of Ikorodu Division.
“May the good Lord bless you with many more years of good health and prosperity.
