The Kolujo team of the former Secretary to the Ikorodu Local Government, Comrade Japheth Abolade Odesanya who is aspiring to take over the Beach Road Secretariat, has proven that security would form main part of his agenda if elected into the office as the next Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, as he and members of his team held a meeting with the chieftains and members of the foremost local security outfit in Ikorodu – Onyabo Vigilance Team.
Recall that as a former Secretary to the Ikorodu LG, Odesanya was central to the security architecture of the council, an effort that was acknowledged by the Onyabo chieftains during the meeting held at the Onyabo Secretariat, Mudashiru House, Ireshe Road, Ikorodu.
In a statement by Mr Kayode Alabi, Esq, Head, Kólùjó Press Directorate, the group emphasized the need for a secured Ikorodu, quoting the late sage, President Nelson Mandela, former South Africa President and leader of the Apartheid Movement.
While commending the vigilant officers for their service, Odesanya also acknowledged profoundly, the roles and impacts of the Odofin of Ikorodu and Chairman, MultiChoice Nigeria, Odofin Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, on the improvement of security in Ikorodu Division.
“Safety and security don’t just happen, they are the result of collective consensus and public investment. We owe our children, the most vulnerable citizens in our society, a life free of violence and fear”, he said while quoting Nelson Mandela.
“In concurrence with this sagely assertion and passion for the safety and security of his people, the Kólùjó Team yesterday made a stop at Ikorodu’s foremost and formidable security outfit , the Onyabo Vigilante Group. The objective was simple: to appreciate and commend the gallant men who stay awake whilst we snore, just so that our sleep may be sound.
“The formation, under the leadership of Chief Olanrewaju Olabinjo, was ecstatic in its reaction as the symbol, Comrade Japheth Odesanya, reeled his goodwill message to them and commended their gallantry, not forgetting to extend the profoundest of gratitude and commendation to Odofin of Ikorodu, High Chief Adewunmi Ogunsanya, SAN, for his legendary contribution to Ikorodu’s security when all hope appeared lost.
In his own reaction, leader of the security group, Olabinjo, took his troop down memory lane, precisely the era when the Kólùjó symbol reigned as the Secretary to Ikorodu Local Government, and his effort at influencing the then incumbent to handsomely increase their monthly subvention from the local government.
In his words: ”Japheth is no stranger to me or Ikorodu’s security challenges over time, and he was of immense assistance to our existence when he was SLG, and the going was tough for us as an outfit, reason I can’t reckon with any other aspirant as far as the approaching local government election is concerned. He deserves our support and can be sure to have it as far as Onyabo Vigilante Group is concerned”.
His second in command, Comrade Olalekan Pelumi, a.k.a Rado, in his own reaction, said: ”Of all the aspirants that have so far shown their interests, only Japheth knows the nooks and crannies of the town, and possesses the clout to knock on any Ikorodu door, hence, worthy of our allegiance which we, hereby, pledge in his favour. He’ll always look over his shoulders and find us.”
“As a team, we, at Kólùjó, find this as huge and breathtaking, so much we are yet to catch our breath. Words seem useless to adequately convey our feelings, and will never possess such capacity!
“However, we wish to place on record that given your support, Ikorodu’s security shall rank among the best ever experienced when eventually this aspiration comes to fruition, our word is our bond. We thank you profusely, & shall consciously strive to boost your gallantry.
“Ojú ló m’óhún to yó’nú. Ikorodu is getting it right. The voice is unprecedentedly ONE. The support base is unwavering.
“To Kólùjó is to be a Japheth. Kólùjó.. ÌLÚ tí s’òrò jàré”.
