Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, member, House of Representatives representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, has assured the people of Ikorodu, of more dividends of democracy for using their votes to support the emergence of President Bola Tinubu as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The lawmaker, who have been facilitating many road construction, hospitals, schools, empowerment programmes, road and street light – up with solar among many others, also added that the people should expect more significant developments very soon, because of their roles in the re – election of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu and himself who was re – elected for the third term last year.
Benson, who reiterated that the Ikorodu people voted massively for Tinubu in the last general election, gave the assurance during his quarterly meeting with the All Progressives Congress (APC) LGA and Ward executives and other stakeholders in Ikorodu, on Thursday.
“I am always thankful because you are my people who always deliver their votes for me and have repeatedly sent me to represent you. You are also the ones that have been voting Governor Sanwo -Olu and President Tinubu, whom I said told me sometime ago that he will never joke with Ikorodu votes”, he said.
“All the dividends of democracy that you have been seeing and enjoying in Ikorodu, is not my making but the outcome of your votes. You have continually given our party your massive support. In the last election, you returned 64, 000 votes for me.
“It is the 64,000 votes that equaled the 80-bed hospital facility in Imota; Offin/ Oreta Road; Lambo – Lasunwon Road; Lucky Fibre road and many other roads construction that are still coming to Agbede/Isawo, Isiu, Imota, Ijede and Abule Eko.
“You have not seen anything with all these, because of many others that we are still going to facilitate.
“In the entirety of Nigeria, Ikorodu Federal Constituency voted most for Asiwaju (Bola Tinubu) to emerge as the President. This is why we are always at the forefront when it comes to bringing back home the dividends of his government.
“We have just presented N100,000 each to some of our people from the Federal Government, and many are still going to benefit from other dividends too”, Rep. Benson assured Ikorodu people.
“There are many important and significant developments that we are still bringing to Ikorodu, but which I am not revealing now”, he added.
However, it was not all about assuring the people of dividends of democracy in Ikorodu, the ranking lawmaker also assured the entire citizenry that the Nigerian economy will improve under the watch of Tinubu whom he reiterated has the capacity to make it work for all.
“A few weeks back, when a bag of rice was going for almost N90, 000, I told you that President Tinubu has the capacity to turn things around as he did in Lagos State as a governor. You can see what has started happening”, he said.
“Nigeria is now of interest to IMG, Bloomberg and Financial Times that are now saying that our currency is the most improved and this is not an artificial improvement.
“Despite this, you are yet to see anything from the President, because he is just settling down for business of the country.
“The last time that I came here, a dollar was N1800 but today, a dollar is now N1000″.
Benson, who also revealed that employment opportunity would be opened at the federal level soon, also assured youths in Ikorodu, that he would be facilitating jobs for them.
“We are going to get employment for your children because portals are going to be opened soon for employment into the fire service, immigration and others. About 11, 000 jobs opening will be available. I assure you that I will secure employment for many of our constituents”, he said.
“We have some money to give you as we have been doing. It is going to go round everyone (party excos). We have over 1000 of you here”, he said.
