Aspirants jostling to take over from the Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), have been asked to wait till 15 months when there would be vacant in the office.
The charge is coming from no other person than the present occupant of the office, Builder Sesan Daini.
The Council boss, who said that he still has till July 2025, to implement his electoral promises and programmes for the people, made the submission at the commissioning of the interlocked Market Street road, Igbogbo, on Thursday.
“I want to assure you that if, by one way or the other, we are yet to fulfil our promise in your area, we still have 15 more months to do our job, and I will still be there to do it”, Builder Daini said.
“A lot of people are coming to me to take over from me as the council chairman, and I always tell them no matter how they want to become the Chairman, I will still be in the position till July 27, 2025. They have to wait and let me finish what I have promised people to do for them”, the Council boss told the aspirants jostling for his office.
Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, a chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), also speaking at the ceremony, charged aspirants for the Chairmanship and Councilorship positions, to campaign based on programmes that they intend to implement if elected.
“My advice to those contesting for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions, is to come up with programmes or manifestoes on what they want to do and let us see it. Through this, those that want to choose you would know what you wanr to do”, the political leader said.
“There is no end for projects when (an elected chairman) you are in charge. All of you should sit down and look at other areas (that the present administration) has not touched and develop plans towards them”.
