HRM Oba Semiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo (midde) commissioning the Market Road in Igbogbo constructed by the administration of Builder Sesan Daini as Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA (2nd left). With them, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, GAC chieftain (4th left), Hon. Maja, Vice Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA (left) and Hon. Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, former Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA (right) among other guests at the commissioning on Thursday.

The Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Builder Sesan Daini, has explained the strategic role and importance of the newly commissioned Market road in Igbogbo, would serve, that made his administration embarked on its construction.

Daini gave the explanation on Thursday, when he was joined by chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the traditional ruler and chiefs as well as residents, to commission the road two years after it was flagged off.

The Council boss, who thanked leaders and residents for their support for his administration, said that the new road will serve as alternative road, exit and entrance, for the Igbogbo market/garage and collector of waste waters from other adjoining roads and discharge same into the man drain.

“This road was supposed to be commissioned within six months of breaking the ground, but we had some delays from the contractor and from some other logistics. We thank God that today, we are commissioning this road. As we have stated when we were flagging it off, there are covered drainages on both sides, full streetlight and interlocked”, Builder Daini said.

“I thank God that we are all witnessing the fulfilment of one of our electoral promises. A funny thing is that my polling booth is actually on this road. This is where I usually vote and people will always ask if I will come to cast my vote on the road that I have not finished, but I always assured them that it would be completed and I would continue to cast my votes”, he added.

Explaining why the road was constructed, Daini said:

“This road was actually agreed to be constructed for three reasons. One is to serve as an alternative route for our main road – Obafemi Awolowo/Bayeku Road. The second is that, by the time that they finish the reconstruction of the main road, it would no longer be used for entrance and exit for the market, because it would cause lots of traffic. This road will serve as the exit and entrance into the market and the park”, he said.

“Another major reason which is the third, when our government constructed the Oluwo Amoju road, and we know that Solawon road is still there while Olayinka road too has been done, and we observe that this particular road is usually flooded by water. So, we need an avenue to collect the water coming from the other ends and discharge same into the main drain. There is no way that we can collect the water without constructing this road with drainage system.

“These are the three major reasons that made us embark on the construction of this road, and we thank God that we are here to commission it”, he said.

The Council Chairman also assured that his administration still has time to fulfill other promises in other areas that are yet to feel the government’s impacts.

“I want to implore every resident of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, that the government is not relenting on our promises. There are lots of things that we have promised but which we have not done, and there are many that we have also executed”, he said.

“I want to assure you that if by one way or the other we are yet to fulfil our promise in your area, we still have 15 more months to do our job, and I we will still be there to do it”.

He thanked the leadership of his party, traditional rulers and residents for their support so far and for guiding his administration to perform better and implement its projects.

HRM Oba Semiudeen Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku and Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, GAC chieftain unveiling the newly constructed road.

“I thank you all for your support, prayers, and I want to specially thank the leadership of the Apex body in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, under the leadership of Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, for their support, guidance and advice”, Builder Daini said.

“We normally have our meeting on monthly basis where I usually go to account for the activities of the council, and I have been enjoying their inputs. When you see me implementing projects and other programmes, don’t think that Sesan is that smart or good, it is because I am enjoying the wealth of knowledge of my fathers and leaders.

“They usually x-tray all my presentations and give me guidance.

“I equally want to thank the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, Oba Abdul-Semiu Orimadegun Kasali, for his fatherly role in putting me to order. Sometimes, some people look at me and say I am always very fast in going to the palace. It is because I want to learn.

“I always know that anytime that I go there, I always get a knock and question about what I have not done. Kabiyesi will always remind of what I have not done. Thanks for always reminding me and thanks for your fatherly roles”, he said.

HRM Oba Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, speaking with the reporters, also said that the road is an important infrastructure and charged the residents to take ownership of it.

“The road, as small as it is, is very strategic as explained by the Chairman. It is important for the social and economic developments of this community, and we are all here to commission the road and show our support that we are fully engaged to this administration and to the realization of the laudable projects as the one that we are commissioning”, the royal father said.

“I want to implore our people living around the road to take charge of it and always clear the drains so that there will not be waterlogged and for us to take full benefit and make use of the road for a long time”.

A chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Asiwaju olorunfunmi Basorun, emphasized the importance of the road and commended the Council Chairman for not only ensuring that it is constructed, but also for carrying along the leaders and listening to them.

The political leader, who said that there is always no end to projects, charged those aspiring to take over from Daini, by developing campaign based on programmes.

“My advice to those contesting for the Chairmanship and Councillorship positions, is to come up with programmes or manifestos that are based on what they want to do and let us see them. Through this, those that want to choose you would know what you want to do”, Basorun said.

“There is no end to projects when (an elected chairman) you are in charge. All of you should sit down and look at other areas (that the present administration) has not touched and develop plans towards it.

“I want to make bold to say here that there are six LCDAs, but the lgbogbo/Bayeku LCDA is the only council that its leaders are holding meetings with its council chairman every month.

“What we do at the meeting is to ask what is/are happening in the council and what the council intends to do and we collectively take decision which are implemented”, Asiwaju Basorun said.

Basorun, who is also the first Secretary to the Lagos State Government, also commended Builder Daini for leading in the construction of a befitting legislative chamber for the elected councilors in Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, which he also added that others are copying.

Prince Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, first Executive Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, commended his successor for the laudable project which he also said would add value to the social and economic lives of lgbogbo people and the entire community.

Meanwhile, Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), a Chairmanship Aspirant for the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA, has congratulated the people of Igbogbo, on the commissioned road and also commended the administration of Builder Daini, for its construction.

“I congratulate the good people of IBLCDA, on the commissioning of the Market road today, 4th April 2024. I also sincerely appreciate the IBLCDA administration led by Bldr. Olusesan Mayokun Daini, for the delivery of the Market road”, he said.

“It is another significant public good that will support the socio-economic progress of the LCDA. I trust that more actions will be taken to sustain the improvement of our council”.
