The father of Master Adewale Lawrence Ayomilere, a 100 level Mechanical Engineering student of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Mr Samson Adewale whose outcry for help led to interventions from high quarters and the eventual re-opening of the institution’s portal for his son and other students to complete their registration for the 2023/2024 academic session, has expressed his appreciation.
The appeal by the concerned father, who was afraid of the effects of his inability to raise funds for the admission of his son who had earlier missed a year, was brought to THE IMPACT WhatsApp platform where the Chief Administrator called out the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA) and others to intervene in the boy’s matter with the school authority.
After their respective timely interventions, the duo of Rep. Benson and Hon. Aro reverted to the platform that they had made contacts with necessary authorities and gave assurances that the boy’s admission will be resolved.
On Wednesday, the Senate of the school sat and after considering several appeals from different quarters for the boy and others that were also affected, asked that the management of LASUSTECH to reopen the registration portal.
Mr Adewale, who paid a thank you visit to Hon. Aro at his Lagos State House of Assembly complex office on Thursday, expressed his appreciation in a chat with THE IMPACT today.
“My joy knows no bounds as regards my son’s admission into LASUSTECH. So, my profound gratitude and appreciation goes to Hon. Jimi Benson for using his highly esteemed office to help even when all hopes were lost”, he said.
“I also will not hesitate to show my gratitude to the people’s Honourable, a listening House of Assembly member, Hon. AMA, young and vibrant for his nobility and show of service to humanity.
“These great icons stood for me and so many other parents that had various challenges when LASUSTECH closed its portal for payment for school fees. It was a gory experience that touched the foundation of my being”, Mr Adewale recounted his experience during the period.
The elated father, who said that the appeals by the Ikorodu lawmakers did not only help his son to be admitted, but also other students too.
Mr Adewale also recognized the role played by Alhaja Tai Elemosho-Okesanjo, Montai, whom he said did not only contact the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Tayo Ayinde, but also took the responsibility of paying his son’s acceptance fees.
“The timely interventions of the aforementioned appealed to the school management to re-open the school’s portal and this particular action gave us (parents) hope and returned the confidence of our children/wards. This indeed is the onus of political representation of the people by the right representatives at all levels of constituencies”, he said.
“I also make bold to salute the efforts of Alhaja Tai Elemosho-Okesanjo, Montai. She was all out as she took the matter head-on, through the office of the Chief of Staff, Lagos State, Hon. Tayo Ayinde. She was Nobel to pay the school’s acceptance fee for my son at a period in January, 2024, when I was not feeling well, and was on medication”.
According to the LASUSTECH’s student’s father, one Pastor Bolanle Omotosho actually took up the responsibility of making his ordeal public, an intervention which has generated positive development for many other families whose children would have also missed their admission.
“I will also be eternally grateful to Pastor Bolanle O. Omotoso who brought my plight to the limelight. Infact, he engineered the whole process that provoked the nobility of Hon. Jimi Benson of the Federal House of Representative and Hon. AMA of the Lagos State House of Assembly”, he said.
“During the whole discussion I had with the Vice Chancellor of LASUSTECH, he made me understand that a lot of people called him on my son’s matter. I can make bold to describe him as a completely gentleman, disciplined and professional with the milk of kindness.
“The Governing Board and Senate of the school, were also amenable enough to re-open the school’s portal to re-absorb all the prospective students. I am happy for them too.
“With this progress made, it has changed my former thinking mentality, that I was a son of a nobody. Now, l am bold to say l am the son of you all mentioned above with a big smile”, the happy father said.
