Christian faithfuls in Ikorodu, today, joined millions of other christians across the world in commemorating the 2024 Palm Sunday with procession, which usually occur a week before the Easter Sunday Celebrations.
They were seen during the procession holding palm fronds which depict the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
At the African Church Bethel Cathedral, Ikorodu, congregation of the church filed out of the Cathedral around noon with 13 children leading the procession. While the leading child represented Jesus Christ, the other 12 children represented his disciples.
The young children were followed by the cross bearer and choir of the Church, the Lay Readers, the Bishop of Lagos West Diocese, The Rt. Rev’d Hezekiah A. Adetoro and members of the congregation.
The procession, which lasted about 45 minutes, went through major streets in Aga area of Ikorodu.
Similar procession were embarked upon in other parts of Ikorodu, by other Churches.
Meanwhile, Prince Ibrahim Alani Onibudo, the Chairmanship aspirant for Ikorodu Local Government, in a statement on Sunday, identified with christians in Ikorodu, on the occasion of Palm Sunday celebration.
“On this special day, I wish Ikorodu Kingdom a Palm Sunday filled with the beauty of God’s creation, the power of His love, and the joy of His presence. May His blessings be with you always.
“May the triumph of Palm Sunday lead you to a week filled with reflection, renewal, and spiritual growth. May you find peace in God’s love and strength in His unwavering support”, he prayed.
