It was a memorable outing as sons and daughters of late Elder (Pa) Owenson Odunniyi of the Lantan Onanusi Family of Igbogbo Kingdom and late Elder (Mrs) Grace Awawu Odunniyi, staged a befitting 30 years remembrance party for their father and burial service for their mother who passed on last year.
The memorial outing service and burial ceremony took place at the Megalite Hall and HOMAT compound, respectively, on Saturday, February 10, 2024.
At the colourful twin ceremony as guests of Mr Gbenga George Odunniyi, former President of the umbrella body of youths in Igbogbo Kingdom – igbogbo Youth Congress (IYC), were members of his social clubs – Achievers’ Crew, Innermost Club, Innermost Ladies, De Consummate and Immaculate Club, Igbogbo.
Also in attendance to honour the foremost youth leader were chieftains and members of the community, religion and work place that he belongs to, such as Igbogbo Youth Coalition (IYC), Baba Ode CDA, Youth Christian Guild Igbogbo, Ladies Christian Guild Igbogbo, Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) Staff and the Lagos State Fire Service staff.
The Aroyewun, Ogasiki/ Olubi, Olorunseye and Efunpeloye Families were also fully on ground to honour Gbenga Odunniyi.
Guests at the occasion were treated to good and delicious meals and gift items.
Lots of assorted drinks were also served to the satisfaction of everyone, complemented with good music which ensured there was no dull moment till curtain was drawn around 8pm.
Speaking with THE IMPACT, Odunniyi, who is the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Achievers’ Crew, was overwhelmed by the massive support he received from friends, colleagues and family members, expressed his appreciation.
“The attendance and general outcome of the party was a testament that I am surrounded by compassionate people full of golden hearts”, he said.
“I’m so grateful for the incredible support and generosity that they all showed me.
“I’m truly speechless by thier kindness and the monetary gift provided. It’s not just about the financial support, but also the moral encouragement offered. Your compassion and golden hearts shone through in everything….’, he said while expressing his gratitude.
Gbenga Odunniyi who emphasized that he was blessed with good people, and that he would not take their supports for granted.
“It’s comforting to know that I am surrounded by such amazing people who genuinely care. Your support has meant the world to me”, he said.
“Once again, I thank them all from the bottom of my heart. I am forever grateful for your love, kindness and generosity”, he added.
