-Donates modern textbooks to all 33 senior secondary schools
The Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG), has charged the Principals and entire Senior Secondary School students in Ikorodu Division of Lagos State, to produce top students in WAEC and JAMB this year.
To motivate the students, the Group through the Town Hall Management Board (ITHMB), on Friday, donated textbooks on various subjects and compilation of WAEC and JAMB questions to all the 33 senior schools in the Division, at the Ikorodu Town Hall.
The Group also charged the schools to ensure that their students take advantage of the CBT facilities at the Ikorodu Town Hall.
Mrs Jaiyeola Afolake, Manager Ikorodu Town Hall, presenting the books on behalf of the Ikorodu Town Hall Management Board, said that the initiative aimed at improving learning at various Senior Secondary School classes in Ikorodu Division, and encouraging them to get best results in JAMB and WAEC this year.
“We are donating the textbooks to you to assist your students in excelling in the coming JAMB and WAEC examinations. We hope to produce best students in WAEC and JAMB from Ikorodu”, she said.
“We are also inviting your students to take advantage of the CBT facilities available at the Town Hall where JAMB classes are conducted free of charge”, she added.
Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe, speaking, appealed to Principals and Chairman, Ikorodu Union of Teachers (NUT), Comrade Oluwafemi Fakolade, to expose students to the modern textbooks donated to them.
He emphasized that the purpose of the donation is to ensure that best students in JAMB and WAEC emerged from Ikorodu this year.
The former Minister for Works also assured school administrators that the IDRDG will continue to support the schools to attain academic excellence.
He also charged the school administrators to ensure that the next best teacher and principal in Lagos State and Nigeria, comes from Ikorodu.
Mrs Iyabo Elusakin, Principal, Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, accepting the books on behalf of other Principals in the Division, assured the IDRDG that Ikorodu schools would produce nothing but the best in both examinations.
“On behalf of the senior secondary schools in Ikorodu Division, we are saying a big thank you for this wonderful gifts that you have given our students, and we promised that the best that you were expecting would come very soon”.
NUT Chairman, Ikorodu branch, Comrade Oluwafemi Fakolade, Jpil., in his own response, also assured the IDRDG Chairman that the Division will continue to stay on top in terms of academic excellence.
“On behalf of the entire teachers in Ikorodu Division, over 4,500 of them, I say thank you. These are teaching aids that would definitely aid better performance of our students”, he said.
“Ikorodu has been on the top and we are assuring you that we will remain on the top. At the last WAEC in Lagos State, Education District II came top, and so, we are determined to maintain that.
“I am absolutely sure that the Tutor – General, Education District II, will be grateful once she is aware of this. She has put in place CBT training programme for the SSS 3 students to get them prepared for the JAMB and WAEC examinations.
“Senator Sir, be rest assured that these books will not just be in the library, but will be made use of by the students and we will come out on top in WAEC and JAMB in the whole of Nigeria”, he added.
