The representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has announced that he will be facilitating two Computer Based Test (CBT) centres to assist the development of education in Ikorodu.
The centres, which will be completed this year, will be located at the two constituencies in lkorodu division.
Rep. Benson, Chairman, House Committee on Defense, made the announcement on Saturday, when he visited the SAB Oteju IT & Innovation Hub of the Musediq Alogba E – Library & Research Centre, Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu, for inspection.
During the visitation, Sen Adeseye Ogunlewe, Chairman, Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG) and Ikorodu Town Hall Management Board (ITMB), conducted Rep. Benson round the facility and they also visited the Education Seminar organized by the Musediq Alogba E – Library & Research Centre Committee, at the Gbadamosi Hall of the Ikorodu Town Hall.
About 200 students from various secondary schools in Ikorodu, that will be writing the JAMB and WAEC examinations, attended the seminar where they were engaged by resource persons led by Mr Bayode Treasure Olawunmi and Mr Bayo Oteju who interacted with students from his base in the United States of America (USA). Others were Mr Abiodun, Mr OlaOluwa Godwin Oke and Mr Seun Elesho.
Benson, who commended Sen. Ogunlewe for his efforts on youth development through education, charged participants to take IT seriously and focus on their education.
“It’s so good to be here among bright students; students that are the leaders of tomorrow and that will make Ikorodu great. I see greatness in all of you and I can see that manifesting in no too distance future”, he said .
He commended Sen. Ogunlewe whom he said has been protecting the interest of the youths and their educational developments
“He is facilitating a CBT centre of over 200 computers to make your examinations easy for you. Hopefully, the centre will be approved for operation soon because JAMB officials just came to inspect it”, he said.
“He is a tireless man who is training our children on how to make use CBT for their examinations, at 80 years”.
“On our parts, we are going to facilitate two huge CBT Centres in Ikorodu Constituency I and Ikorodu Constituency II. They would be built from the scratch”, he announced to the cheering students.
“Those two will complement the one by the Ikorodu Development Resource Development Group (IDRDG) located within the town hall and they will be finished this year.
He charged the students to develop their IT knowledge to be competitive and be ahead of their peers.
Emphasising the need for the students to be serious with their education, the third – term lawmaker said.
“The currency to the future and to your greatness in life is education, education and education. Ensure that you read your books very well and excel”, Rep. Benson said.
“There will be no need to ‘Japa’, if you read very well and turn out to be someone great. But to achieve success, you have to be steadfast, tenacious and committed to your education, because that is the only way to make your parents proud’’, he added.
Speaking earlier, Sen. Adeseye Ogunlewe commended Rep. Benson for his quality representation and intervention in the development of the SAB Oteju ICT & Innovation Hub.
He charged the students to do everything within their power to study very well and not make investments on them go waste.
“We want Ikorodu to produce best students in WAEC and JAMB. We are ready to assist you and that’s why we have setup a good CBT centre to train you”.
Participants and teachers at the education seminar were given N2000 each as transport fare couryesy of Rep. Benson and Mr Bayo Oteju.
Students with 280 JAMB scores will get a laptop and N100, 000 each.
