The sole sponsor of the Gafaar Bolowotan Memorial Gold Cup and Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Prince Oluwatoyin Gafaar Bolowotan, on Wednesday, fulfilled its pledge to the eight teams that progressed to the quarter final stage of the competition, by presenting them with new set of jerseys.
The new jerseys were presented to the Infinite FC Academy of Igbogbo and Sharon FC of Owutu, which they wore while playing the first quarter final match of the 15th edition of the competition which started last year at the Police Barracks Playing Ground Ikorodu.
Officials of the teams also benefitted from the sponsor’s gesture.
Alhaji Luqman Sonibare, Chairman, Ikorodu Division Football Association (IDFA), presented the set of jerseys on behalf of the sponsor.
Meanwhile, SHARON FC have emerged as the first team to qualified for the semi – final after edging out Infinite FC Academy via a penalty shootouts, after the match ended goalless in the regulation time.
Infinite FC, which played without their top striker, found it difficult to convert all their chances as they wasted every goal opportunity that came their way during the match, while their opponents in their usual style, kept cool and soak the pressure from the rampaging Infinite FC players.
Today, ABLAZE FC, CELE, will take on the warriors of MAKBETH FC, IBESHE, at the same venue by 3pm. Players and officials of the two teams are expected to get their new set of jerseys before the match.
As pledged by Prince Gafaar Bolowotan, the last four teams that will play in the semi – final will also get new set of jerseys and same with two finalists.
