The Iyaloja – General of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs) Folashade Ojo- Tinubu, has granted Deaconess Busola Elizabeth Isikalu the recognition as the Iyaloja General of Ikorodu Division and Ikorodu LG.
THE IMPACT gathered that the controversies surrounding Isikalu’s emergence for the highly coveted position, was resolved at the State Secretariat of the market in Ikeja, on Tuesday, at a meeting with Chief (Mrs) Folasade Tinubu Ojo.
It was gathered that Chief (Mrs) Ojo, who also doubled as the Iyaloja General of Lagos, had invited all the contestants to listen to their sides of the matter which has pitched the Ayangbure palace and market people loyal to Deconess Isikalu, against the Chairman of lkorodu Local Government, Hon. Wasiu Adesina.
At the parley were Chief (Mrs) Isikalu, Mrs Bukola Osho, other contestants and market leaders.
Sources at the meeting said that, after listening to all the parties, the Iyaloja General of Nigeria appealed to all the warring parties to embrace peace and respect the traditional institution.
She also said that she will talk to the Chairman whom she described as her brother.
According to the sources, Iyaloja General of Nigeria, thereafter, announced that Deacon Isikalu as her preferred choice to lead the market in Ikorodu and raised her hand in the presence of everyone. Other market Chieftains at the meeting were also said to have joined Mrs Folasde Ojo, in raising Isikalu’s hands.
With this recognition, Deacon Isikalu now doubled as the Iyaloja General of Ikorodu Division and that of the Ikorodu Central LG (Ikorodu LG).
Chief (Mrs) Ojo, also at the meeting, directed Deaconess Isikalu and others to lead some of the other contestants to the Ayangbure of Ikorodu, HRM Oba Kabir Shotobi, to beg him for the confrontations and challenge by some of them after the two committees set up by the royal father, selected Deacon Isikalu as the preferred candidate.
It was said that Chief Mrs Folasade Ojo emphasized that the delegation should explain to Kabiyesi that they did not mean to disrespect the Ayangbure stool or undermine his authority.
To this end, the recognition of Deacon Isikalu by the Iyaloja General of Nigeria, is expected to resolve the entire Iyalojaship crisis which was degenerated when it was reported that the Ikorodu LG Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, who is alleged to be supporting one of the candidates for the position – Mrs Osho, said at various times that the council would only recognize the candidate recognised by the number one market leader in Lagos State and Nigeria in general.
It is, however, not clear if the candidates have been able to see the Ayangbure as directed by Chief Mrs Ojo, as THE IMPACT learnt that the revered royal father has travelled to Abuja, few days ago for important matters.
