Adeleke Basit, a player of the Perfect Touch FC, has emerged the first winner of the Man of the Match Award at the ongoing Gafaar Bolowotan Memorial Gold Cup 2023.
The player was presented with a temperature led display vacuum flask by the LOC, after the game. The award gift is sponsored by the Ikorodu City Football Club.
Basit, who was voted the Man of the Match, fought off strong challenges from his team mates and players from the other team, Amazing FC, to win the award. He would also get a certificate of award for the feat.
Meanwhile, players of the Formidable FC proved that they are truly a formidable team by beating the Deluxe FC two goals to one in the first match of the 2nd round of preliminary matches at the Police Barracks Playing Ground on Thursday.
Shittu Hammed put the Formidable FC ahead in the 13th minute and Adeyemi Oluwasegun added another goal at 41st minute, while Idowu Oluwaseunfunmi scored for only goal for Deluxe FC in the 78th minute of the game which was officiated by Agbabiaka Toheeb.
In the second match which produced the first Man of the Match, Amazing United FC and Perfect Touch FC played 1 – 1 draw in the highly competitive encounter.
While Olabode Adekoya converted a spot – kick for Perfect Touch FC in the 24th minute, Ibikunle Yusuf equalized for Amazing FC at the 73rd minute.
Referee Oladosu Sodiq was in-charge of the match.
