A three term lawmaker representing the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has assured Nigerians, especially his constituents in Ikorodu, that the 2024 budget of President Bola Ahhmed Tinubu, framed on his administration’s Renewed Hope mantra, will bring about economic prosperity to the citizen and the country.
The 2024 Appropriation Bill was signed into law by the President, on the New Year Day in Abuja.
Benson, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, gave the assurance on Tuesday in Imota Local Council Development Area of Ikiorodu Federal Constituency, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, when the Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbass, PhD., and the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (OSSAP – SDGs), Her Excellency, Princess (Dr.) Adejoke Orelope – Adefulire, OFR, NPoM, commissioned an 80 – bed hospital facility that he facilitated.
The Ikorodu representative described the promptness in the passage of the budget by the 10th National Assembly, as unprecedented in the history of the legislature in Nigeria.
“Mr President gave us the budget three weeks ago. It has never happened in the history of Nigeria, that a budget will be submitted in the first week of December and the parliament, under the able leadership of Mr Speaker, promised to get it passed and yesterday (Monday), Mr Speaker and his colleagues fulfilled that promise”, Rep. Benson said.
“The budget of Nigeria was signed yesterday (Monday) and that budget is the first budget that the renewed hope propagator, Mr President, will implement and it is important that we all assure that it would usher in a prosperity that we truly deserve.
“Help me thank Mr Speaker for the diligence and love that he has for our Mr President”, he said.
Benson, who has facilitated many infrastructural facilities, empowerment programmes, and many other projects that have transformed the socio – economic lives of his constituents, also informed his his people that Mr Speaker has assured him of more support in facilitating more projects to Ikorodu.
“Travelling here, Mr Speaker whispered a lot of things to my hearing. Mr Speaker said that this Ikorodu is big and he asked how come I have six councils that are not listed in the constitution and other questions that you people ask me on a daily basis”, he said.
“He gave me assurances that more goodies are coming to Ikorodu.
“Mr Speaker, I can’t thank you enough. Ikorodu thought that we had it good during the tenure of Femi Gbajabiamila, but Mr Speaker is saying that Ikorodu aren’t seeing nothing yet.
“Mr Speaker, I welcome you to the Ikorodu Federal Constituency which I called the Miami of Lagos”, Rep. Benosn said.
The Chairman House Defense Committee also requested of the Speaker openly, to assist in making construction work commence on the Ikorodu – Itoikin Road which he said the Nigeria number 4 citizen also complained about en route Imota, for the commissioning of the 80 – bed capacity hospital.
