About 400 members of the Igbogbo Students’ Union (ISU) and residents of Igbogbo, today, benefited from the relief materials distributed by the executive members of the union.
The distribution of the food items took place at the Oba Johnson Fatola Pavilion located within the Adeboruwa palace in Igbogbo.
According to Comrade AbdulSalaam Tijani, the President of the union who anchored the exercise, a total of 380 people (80 members of the union and 300 residents of the community) benefitted from the two different food packs distributed; one of which contained cooked jollof rice with chicken, bottle of water and soft drink, and the other containing food items such as indomie noodles, spaghetti, sugar and seasonings.
The relief materials were sponsored by Prince (Barr.) Adeleke Aroyewun, Sen. Olafare Comfort and Mr. Kayode Anibaba, Convener, Wave Shift Foundation for Social lmpact.
Other officials of the union at the distribution exercise were: Comrade Kuti Fiyinfoluwa (Vice President), Rt. Hon. Abdulateef Balogun (Speaker), Comrade Malik Yunus (Director of Studies), Comrade Giwa Hussein (Social Director), Comrade Sodiq Hassanat, (Welfare Director), Hon. Hafsoh Ogunbiyi (Majority Leader) and Comrade Kuti Dare, former NAIDS President.
Comrade Tijani, speaking on the distribution exercise, said that the union is reaching out to its members and residents, in the spirit of the season.
“We are doing this today in commemoration of the Boxing Day which calls for sharing of gifts with one another, and caring for those in need”, he said.
“We are reaching out to our members who are across tertiary institutions across the country, but are back home on holidays, in commemoration of the Boxing Day.
“Kindly accept the little that we are offering. We are giving you what we have to support and share love with you, but not what you want”, he said.
The ISU President charged members to also remember to share love to others during the yuletide season.
The representative of Mr Kayode Anibaba, in her remarks, said that the Wave Shift Foundation was established to assist in development of the students and achievement of their dreams.
She added that partnering with ISU, in sponsoring the distribution of the relief materials, was one of the group’s numerous actions, while pledging that more of the group’s interventions would be seen in lgbogbo, in the coming months.
