A socialite and retired staff of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Ikorodu Local Government, Peer Babatunde Owolabi, has taken over as the President of the Zenith Peers Club of Nigeria.
He took over the baton from Peer Omotunde M. Zulukhadeen, at a well – attended swearing – in and handover ceremony conducted by a former President of the club, Peer Saheed O.K. Shillings, at the Colour Party House, Igbe Road, Ikorodu, on Sunday, December 17, 2023.
Peer Owolabi was inaugurated alongside other members of the new executive council of the club, which includes Peer (Alh) Jamiu Afolabi (Vice President), Peer (ESV) Rilwan A. Onibudo (General Secretary), Peer S. A. Salami – (Treasurer) and Peer (Prince) Adesegun Oyefusi (Social Secretary)
The new President, while accepting the position, commended the outgone executives and pleaded for support from members.
“I am greatly delighted to be given the baton of leadership of our great club, and to illuminate the flame of unity, progress, achievements and fame of our club”, he said.
“I use this podium to gracefully appreciate the outgoing executives for their incredible efforts towards the growth of our great club. You were all wonderful officers of great roles.
“It is on my honour to accept this great challenge. Therefore, I strongly appeal to all members for support and cooperation in taking this club of ours to a greater height. It is a collective responsibility of all”.
The new President also promised to focus on unity, love and progress of the club.
“Unity and love remain the brain box of the creation of this club. Consequently, I seek your unflinching supports to make this project a better standard and a place for us to rendezvous”, he said.
“It is on my honour to build on the existing quality of work done by my predecessors, correct all anomalies and make innovations as at when due.
“As the twilight sets, the new dawn arises to shine the light upon us. My concentration shall be wholly on peace, unity and progress of our great club”.
He pledged to unveil his programmes themed, ‘Peers 5 – Agenda Programmes’.
At the ceremony were Otunba Ganiyu Abiru, Executive Secretary, Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited and patron of the club, as well as members’ wives, families and friends.
