Officials of the Federal Ministry of Works last Thursday, visited the Igbogbo/Offin/Oreta road which has been slated for reconstruction, to commence preliminary works.
The road project, which has been approved by the Federal Executive Council and fund partly provided for in the N2.176tn 2023 supplementary budget approved by the National Assembly for President Bola Tinubu, was facilitated by the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson.
The team from the Ministry was led by the Head of the Ministry Surveying Department and one Engr. Sharafa, while Engr. Shobo, the iCare Foundation’s engineer representing Rep. Babajimi Benson, was also with them.
Also on ground were Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, led Barr. Ade Ayeni, Secretary to the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Hon. Nurudeen Alimi, Council Leader and Alhaji W.A Yusuf, Supervisory Councilor on Works
Engr. Shobo, confirming the commencement of the preliminary works, simply told THE IMPACT, that:
“They came to measure the road from Igbogbo road to Offin and also to Oreta”.
A community leader in Offin, Deacon Monday Ohi Obadan, described the development as a rare Christmas gift to the residents of the area.
“Thank you @Rep JB, the talk-n-do, quintessential and pragmatic leader of leaders, walking his talk. Indeed, what a rare Christmas Gift!!”, he said.
“When I passed through Igbogbo by Zumratul Junction, I saw a crane removing and working on the junction. Going further into Offin, I saw three Surveyors surveying and mapping the road between Wagbare and Offin Junctions.
“I can authoritatively confirm the commencement”, he added.
Another resident, Mrs Bola Akeem, in her own response, described the commencement of the preliminary works as the beginning of the end of the sufferings that thousands of Offin, Oreta and other communities in that axis have endured over the years.
She pleaded with Rep. Benson to ensure that the project commence in good time and given close monitoring.
