The representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has pledged to partner with the Barr. Stephen A.B. Oteju ICT and Innovation Hub of the Alhaji Musediq Alogba E – Library & Research Centre, to assist in developing youths in Ikorodu.
The facility, which is located within the Ikorodu Ultra – Modern Town Hall, Olubi/Owolowo, Ikorodu, is being managed by the Ikorodu Division Resource Development Group (IDRDG).
The facility was formerly being used as an ordinary library, but was upgraded to an e – facility under the current Chairman of IDRDG, Sen. (Sir) Dr Adeseye Ogunlewe, and also expanded to include an ICT and Innovation Hub which has been training students, out of school youths and teachers.
Rep. Benson, who visited the Ikorodu Division Hall of Fame gallery which is also located within the town hall facility, to hang his frame last Friday, also paid a visit to the ICT section where he was marveled at the efforts of the Group in empowering youths and residents generally in Ikorodu, with ICT education.
He described the centre as a laudable way of further developing the youths in Ikorodu, adding that both himself and Sen. Tokunbo Abiru have invested heavily in ICT education for students.
“If you are not in the ICT stage, you are living in the Stone Age. My political journey started by investing heavily in the ICT. I see this as a big tool that will take our youths from zero to being heroes”, he said.
“This is a good way to further support and build their skills. Very soon, Ikorodu too will be a very strong ICT hub centre. Senator Abriu is already doing well. He has invested heavily in ICT.
“On our part, we have set up ICT centers in three schools. We want to catch them young by developing their ICT mentality which will propel them to greater height.
“This is also a centre that I am extremely proud of. I am also going to be a partner in progress, and I will think of how I can add value to the centre within the next couple of months.
“This is a centre that should be owned by all, because admissions will be for the vulnerable but we have to give them ICT education which for me, is a visa to prosperity”, he said.
Rep. Benson also commended the IDRDG Chairman, Sen. Ogunlewe, for the initiative.
“Thank you very much, sir (Sen. Ogunlewe). You have always put in your hard work, and I don’t know where daddy gets his energy. At 80, he is still up and doing. It’s God’s grace”.
