A management staff of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service, Ibrahim Olayinka Majekodunmi, and the Ikorodu Divisional Commander, Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA), Sanni Ibrahim Oyeyemi, were among the five public servants honoured by the Ikorodu – Oga Development Association (IKODASS), for their meritorious services to the public service and Ikorodu in particular.
They were honoured at the Public Service Day programme of the just concluded lkorodu-Oga Day, held on Friday at the Ikorodu Town Hall, Ikorodu.
Other awardees were: Mrs Yekinni K.O., Principal, Luwasa Senior High School, Ijede, Alhaji Oseni Afisu, Principal/Director of Education, Community Senior Grammar School, Gberigbe, and Alhaja Sobona Karimat Aderemi, Principal, Community Junior Grammar School, Imota.
Ibrahim Majekodunmi, popularly called. ‘Majek’, attended Lagos State University Ojo, Lagos State, where he bagged his B.sc., in Economics in 1998, and later proceeded to the University of Ibadan (U.I), Oyo State, for a postgraduate Studies and was awarded Masters in Industrial and Labour Relations (MILR) in 2003.
He also holds a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, in 2019, and recently completed M.Sc in Economics from University of Lagos (UNILAG).
Ibrahim, who is an Economist, Accountant and seasoned Tax Administrator, is a member of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN), where he was inducted as a Certified National Accountant (CNA) and a fellow of the Chattered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, (CITN).
He has worked in various organisations, both locally and internationally. While undertaking his national youth service between 1999 and 2000, he worked as the Finance officer (NYSC), Ede North Local Government. He has also worked as Asst. Admin Officer, AkSMAJ Nigeria Limited (2001-2005); Deputy Business Manager, WYCARE Services Uk, Limited (2005-2006); Business Manager, SOMALI CARE PROJECT, UK (2005-2006); and Business Manager, SOMALI CARE PROJECT, UK (2007-2008).
He returned to Nigeria and joined the service of Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) where he is presently a management staff of the state foremost revenue Agency.
At the Community Service level, Yinka Majekodunmi was one of the few individuals during his university days that revived the Ikorodu Student Association, the students’ association that looked into the welfare of Ikorodu indigenes in all tertiary institutions. He was at the forefront of the struggle that brought about the award of bursary and scholarships to Ikorodu indigenes during late Waheed Gbadamosi led local government administration.
Yinka Majekodunmi has served in various community development associations, handling many portfolios. Presently, he is the Acting Chairman of Odogunyan Estate Community Development Association. He is also the Chairman of the Shams-el-deen Grammar School Old Students’ Association (1991/1992 Sets).
Politically, Majekodunmi is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) which he has served at local, state and national levels. He has also aspired for the Ikorodu Constituency I seat at the Lagos State House of Assembly twice (2019 and 2023).
The Divisional Commander, LNSA, Commander Sanni Ibrahim Oyeyemi, attended Lagos State University, Ojo, where he bagged his bachelor’s degree in Business Admmistration in 2012. He is also a member of the Institute of Strategic Management of Nigeria (ISMN).
He served as a teacher at the Government Junior Secondary School, Gitata, Nasarawa State during his NYSC.
Sanni joined the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) where he was appointed as the Corps Officer (C. O) for Ikorodu Local Government, and was later elevated in 2023, to the post of the Divisional Commander, covering Ikorodu Local Government and the five (5) LCDAs in Ikorodu Division, a position which he holds till date.
