The surprise project mentioned by the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, that he has for his constituents has been unmasked as it has been revealed that the three term lawmaker is the one that facilitated the inclusion of the Igbogbo/Offin/Oreta Road in the 2023 Supplementary budget.
The three term lawmaker had, about two weeks ago, informed reporter that he has a surprise package for the Ikorodu constituents, but did not reveal details.
The N2.176tn 2023 supplementary budget proposal by President Bola Tinubu, was approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Monday, and submitted to the House of Representatives on Tuesday, with the security of Nigerians and their property as top priority as defense got the highest allocation of N476.543bn.
The sum of N300, 000, 000, 000 was allocated for the Ministry of Works, while the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security got N200bn.
Speaking with Rep. Babajimi on phone earlier today, he confirmed the development as the surprise package that he mentioned for his constituents.
“Yeah, 100%. That’s the surprise that I mentioned…….”, Rep. Benson told our reporter.
He said that the project will commence as soon the President signed the supplementary budget into law and procurement is done.
“It will commence as soon as the procurement is done. Hopefully, the President will sign the budget, and immediate the process of procurement will commence”, he said.
“It will be given a top priority and it will be enhanced in the 2024 budget. We will make sure that money will be made available for the project.
Speaking to the thousands of residents whose their social, economic and other aspects of lives have been adversely affected due to the deplorable state of the road, Rep. Benson simply said:
“The renewed hope is here”.
