The resilience and continuous practical representation of the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, in the construction and rehabilitation of roads, has been commended by former aspirant for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA).
The commendations came following the news that the Igbogbo/Oreta/Offin Road has been included in the 2023 Supplementary budget, which was made possible by Rep. Benson who has been constructing and rehabilitating several strategic roads across the federal constituency.
The 13km road has been totally collapsed and turned deadly for so many years now, with attendant suffering for the thousands of residents in that axis and other users of the road.
In a statement by Aroyewun titled, ‘Vistas of Renewed Hope Coming to Ikorodu Division’, the young politician also commended the Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, for his role in the passage of the bill.
In the same vein, the young politician and professional also commended the Governor of Lagos State, His Excellency, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, for his intervention in ensuring that strategic roads in Ikorodu Division are attended to, and Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency II, for providing palliatives on road in his constituency.
Aroyewun did not also forget roles played by the traditional rulers and eminent leaders in the Division, over the attention that strategic roads are receiving at the moment.
His statement is reproduced below:
“It is heartwarming to see that one of the most strategic roads in Ikorodu Division, Òfin-Oreta Road has featured in the supplementary budget of the federal government of Nigeria. The 13km road is scheduled for construction immediately, according to one of the major facilitators – Hon Babajimi Benson, aka ‘JB’ (MHR, and Chairman, House Committee on Defence)”.
“I am enthused to immediately express my appreciation to JB, and all others who must have worked behind the scene to move this project to this level. JB’s gravitas and grace will surely bring in all dividends of our country’s democracy to Ikorodu Division. He works for the division with no hesitation and we cannot appreciate him enough.
“One cannot but also appreciate our distinguished Senator Mikhail Adetokunbo Abiru, #DoingGoodSenator (Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial lnstitutions), for the passage of the supplementary budget.
“At the Lagos State level, the efforts of the governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and the state government cannot be undermined. It is right to appreciate their actions. Now, I urge the governor and the government to focus on other strategic roads in the division. Let the vistas of renewed hope permeates the entire division as prompt as possible. Our people certainly deserve these public goods.
“Indeed, the news of the federal government’s intervention on the Òfin-Oreta road is an appreciation of the good intention and effort of Hon Moshood Abiodun Aro, AMA (Chairman, House Committee on Establishment,Training & Pension). His ongoing action in providing palliatives for the users of the road is not only magnificent but also transformational. He invested all his political capital to partner with the Lagos State Public Works Bureau, and that partnership is the beginning of the work in progress that we are witnessing now.
“My appreciation is further extended to our amiable President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Hammed Tinubu, for his keen interest in the infrastructural development of the nation, we trust his timely implementation on this.
“Lastly, the cooperation of all political and traditional leaders in Ikorodu Division, especially our eminent Governance Advisory Council members, Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun and Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, cannot be trivialized in the actualization of this project. Their collective efforts behind the scene is not unnoticed, such progressive synergy is the agent of transformation needed to birth more meaningful projects in the division”, Aroyewun said.
