The residents of Itedo – Oluwa Community Development Association (CDA) in Igbe, Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, have commended the Lagos State Government and the Special Adviser on DAWN & Southwest Integration, Hon. Olanrwaju Sunmi Odesanya, for the donation of food palliatives to the community.
A total of 50 food packs consisting of food items such as 5kg bag of rice, 5kg bag of beans and 5kg bag of garri, were facilitated by Hon. Sunmi Odesanya, for the vulnerable residents in his community.
He made the presentation of the food packs to Alhaji Lukman Babalola, Chairman, Itedo – Oluwa CDA and other executive members, on Saturday.
Speaking with our reporter, Alhaji Babalola, who said that he received the packages on Friday, thanked the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu, for the gesture.
He said that the donation of the food items will go a long way in bringing relief to the populace.
“Hon. Sunmi called me about two weeks ago to inform me that he was going to receive some palliatives from the state government, and that he would be presenting them to our CDA as relief for vulnerable people, and on Friday, I received a call from the state government for the delivery of the items which I related to my excos”, he said.
“We thank him for this, the gesture is highly appreciated. Though, beneficiaries have not received the palliatives, but we have passed the message to them and they are already in good mood.
“We sincerely thank Hon. Sunmi for this gesture, and we pray that God will continue to uplift him
“With what the state government is doing, it will bring relief to the people. Before now, we have received some palliatives from the government through the Community Development Committee (CDC), and now this from Hon. Sunmi. I think that this will bring a very big relief for our people”, Alhaji Babalola said.
Meanwhile, Hon. Sunmi Odesanya said that the state government is being responsive and responsible to its people by provding palliatives to cushion the economic challenges in the country.
Odesanya thanked the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Ms. Bisola Olusanya, for the donation of the palliatives for the residents.
“If you may recall that on assumption of office, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, met a lot of issues on ground that bothered on welfare, security and economic challenges, but above all, welfare is quite paramount to any responsive and responsible government, hence, the issue of palliative came up to actually soothe frayed nerves and put smiles on their faces”, the aide to the Governor said.
“That’s what led to the state government taking a cue from the central government and in my capacity, I have to also be responsive and responsible to my neighbours and as you know, this is where I live, and the CDA has been very vibrant.
“I want to thank my sister in the Ministry of Agriculture, Ms. Bisola Ruth Olusanya, who sent across the 50 packs of food items which I directed to the CDA Chairman who put a call to me after taking the delivery and requested me to come around to do the presentation.
“I am thankful to the Ministry of Agriculture under her (Ms. Olusanya) watch, and I also want to thank our sellable Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo – Olu, for being responsive and responsible”, he said.
He appealed to Lagosians to be patient with the government, and assured those yet to get the palliatives that it would also get to them.
“It would go across the nooks and crannies of the state. Let me implore each and every one of us to be patient and tolerant with the state government. It is an endless exercise, hence, it will go round every segment of the state”, he appealed.
Other executive members at the presentation are Otunba Oni Charles Abayomi (Vice Chairman 2), Mr Adekoya Abiodun (Welfare Secretary), Mrs Adetayo Rukayat (Social Secretary) and Mr Alli Mutiu (Financial Secretary).
