The Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, Sen. Mikhail Tokunbo Abiru and wife, Mrs Surat Feyisola Abiru, have felicitated His Majesty, Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos State, on his 80th birthday.
In a statement issued in commemoration of the monarch’s birthday, Abiru said that his reign has prosperous and peaceful city
“My wife and I most heartily congratulate our royal father, Oba Alayeluwa Rilwan Aremu Akiolu, Olowo-Eko of Lagos and Chairman Lagos State Council of Traditional Rulers, on the occasion of your 80th birthday”, the statement said.
“We thank God for sparing your life and enabling you to realise your destiny and ambition to reign over a model city that adorns the map of the world.
“We are impressed by your career progression which culminated in your service to our beloved nation as a celebrated security chief before ascending to the prestigious stool of your illustrious forebears.
“Kabiyesi, you have presided over a peaceful and prosperous city that has not forgotten its rich cultural heritage, despite its steady adaptation to the reality of the new world technological order.
“Under your leadership, Lagos has remained the most thriving economic hub, a national pride and city of first choice in Africa”, the statement said.
Congratulating the Oba of Lagos, Abiru and wife, prayed for good health and wisdom for the monarch.
“We treasure your cosmopolitan disposition, leadership acumen and words of wisdom and courage, which have often inspired many residents to be alive to the practical responsibility of sticking to the ideals of excellence that have consistently defined Lagos”, the statement said.
“Our prayer is that the Almighty God should continue to give you robust health, strength and more wisdom as you play your fatherly roles in Lagos State and Nigeria.
