The Ijede Development Foundation (IDF) has honoured five outstanding sons and daughters of Ijede, with Merit Awards for their respectve impacts in the community.
The honorees are: Princess (Alhaja) Kafilat Omolade Hassan (Nee Amusa), Mr. Musiliu Abiru (Jnr.), Miss Rufai Azeezat Dolamu, Alhaja Osefat Kikelomo Sunmonu and Hon. (Alhaji) Wasiu Olaniyi Agoro.
The awardees were conferred with the honours at the 8th IDF Scholarship award, Quiz/Debate Competition, Annual Public Lecture and commissioning of the Mini Library/ICT Centre, held at the TBT Event Centre, Ijede, on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
IDF Chairman, Alhaji Fola Salu, introducing the awardees, said that they were selected in line with the tradition of the group.
“In line with our annual tradition, we have carefully selected some personalities for IDF Merit Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to this community. The categories of the Awards were: IDF Ijede LCDA Ambassador Award, IDF Ijede LCDA Young Personality Award, IDF Ijede LCDA Best Graduating Student Award, IDF Ijede LCDA In Diaspora Award and IDF Ijede LCDA Community Service Award.
The IDF Chairman, speaking on the IDF Ijede LCDA Ambassador Award conferred on Princess (Alhaja) Kafilat Omolade Hassan (Nee Amusa), said:
“This Award is for any individual who has distinguished himself or herself in any chosen field or career to the extent that his or her character has brought fame, recognition and good repute to the name of “Ijede LCDA”.
Princess Hassan is the immediate Chairman, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Ikorodu Division, and also the immediate past Chairman, ICAN, Western Zone, Nigeria.
She is a Chartered Accountant, community developer per excellence and a Board Member, Ikorodu Town Hall Management Board (ITHMB).
The proud winner of the IDF Ijede LCDA Young Personality Award is Mr. Musiliu Abiru (Jnr.), the first old awardee to be so grateful to this noble course that is being pursued by the IDF, and now a proud sponsor of one scholarship award.
Miss Rufai Azeezat Dolamu, the overall Best Graduating Student in Ikorodu, emerged as the first IDF Ijede LCDA Best Graduating Student Award reserved for an indigene of the town who emerge as the Best Graduating Student from any public university in Nigeria.
In the category of the IDF Ijede LCDA In Diaspora Award, Alhaja Osefat Kikelomo Sunmonu, emerged as the winner, due to her consistency in her support for the foundation.
The IDF Chairman, announcing the award that was conferred on Alhaja Sunmonu, said:
“Studies have shown that most of the developed towns and communities are being funded by their sons and daughters in Diaspora. Therefore, the award is specially reserved for ljede LCDA indigenes abroad who consistently support the development of education, particularly in Ijede LCDA community”, he said.
“The proud winner is Alhaja Osefat Kikelomo Sunmonu”.
The last award, IDF Ijede LCDA Community Service Award, was bestowed on Hon. (Alhaji) Wasiu Olaniyi Agoro, a retiree, for his support and donation toward IDF projects.
According to the foundation, the Community Service Award is for any individual or corporate body found to be supportive to the sustainability of IDF projects.
