The performing representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, has revealed that massive road construction would commence in the next one week or two in different parts of his constituency.
Benson stated that he’s working on ensuring that the Ikorodu – Shagamu road, which has been under reconstruction for many years, is completed, and also hinted at unveiling an undisclosed big project soon.
The three – term lawmaker made the disclosures at his Ikorodu Constituency Office on Saturday, at the October 2023 edition of his monthly ‘Apo – Anu’ Food Bank program.
The well loved lawmaker has facilitated the construction and reconstruction of over 50 roads in the last three years, which has boosted social and economic developments in Ikorodu.
“You know that you call me Julius Berger (JB), you are going to be hearing some earth-shaking commencement of road projects that you would never imagine could happen”, the lawmaker disclosed.
“We are also going to ensure that the Ikorodu – Shagamu Road is completed. I am thoroughly working on that. I met with the Arab Contractors two days ago, and I am talking with the members of the Appropriation Committee, and they have assured me.
“I have seen it, worked on it. There is going to be a supplementary budget for it, and they are going to start working on it this month. You will be seeing further action.
“Aside from that, I have a very big project that will be commencing in the next few weeks in Ikorodu”.
On Ikorodu –Itoikin and Gberigbe/Agura road, Rep. Benson also stated that he is working with the Lagos State Government, in ensuring that the roads are fixed.
“We are working together with the Lagos State Government, concerning the Ikorodu – Itoikin and Gberigbe – Agura roads. I have also drawn his attention to the 80 – bed hospital that needs commissioning”, he said.
“You know it is a new administration, and the Commissioner for Works is barely one month in the office. They have taken stock of all these roads, and they are deliberating on them and very soon, they will be moving to site”, Rep. Benson assured.
