-Solicits for supports towards facility
The Ijede Development Foundation (IDF) has commissioned the Mini Library/ICT Center, to assist the educational and technological development of Ijede.
The building was donated to the IDF about three years ago by the Ijede Club ‘63.
Kunle Matti, General Secretary, IDF, speaking on the center, said that the building was donated to the IDF some years back as a secretariat, but that the organization decided to use it for its educational purpose, so as to serve the generality of Ijede community.
According to Matti, who was an aspirant for the Ikorodu Constituency II seat in the v8Lagos State House of Assembly in the last General Elections, the centre will cater for the educational needs of students in Ijede LCDA.
He stated that while the IDF renovated and put the building, which is near the lagoon, in good shape, some public – spirited people have been donating computer systems and offering other supports to ensure that the centre has necessary facilities.
He listed Dr. Nurudeen Olambiwoninu, former Commissioner, Dr. Ganiy Agabje, Hon. Wasiu Adeniyi Agoro, late Alhaja Yekinni and the IDF members as those that have supported in putting the Mini Library/ICT Centre in shape.
On behalf of the IDF, Matti solicited for further support from guests at the commissioning, towards the provision of other facilities like tiling of the centre’s floor, Air Conditioners and computer systems among others.
Hon. (Barr.) Tajudeen Jaiyeola Agoro, Chairman at the 8th IDF Scholarship award, Quiz/Debate Competition and Annual Public Lecture, during the commissioning of the Mini Library/ICT Centre, commended Club 63′ for donating the building and for their love for the development of Ijede.
“The Club that donated this place needed to be specially praised and appreciated, because if they could sacrifice this much, it means that they appreciate and value development and progress of Ijede. They are wonderful people”, Hon. Agoro said.
“I am challenged further, to talk to some people to assist IDF with their needs at this center”, he added.
Prince Adio Saka, the guest speaker at the Scholarship/Debate/Quiz Competition & Annual Lecture, also speaking, said that achieving development requires collective efforts which the IDF has started.
“This is part of the catalytic effects and actualization of some of the suggestions in my lecture paper. It cannot be done alone, and in doing things like this, you are going to seek for support; collectivity in terms of your own endowment since you must be seen to have means of actualizing your ideas before calling others to support you.
“I have elders here in Ijede, whose activities are been continued by the IDF. People like Prince Akilo, Prince Adegbola Amusa and quite a number of them”.
After the commissioning and speeches, guests toured the facility to assess the facilities at the centre.
Others at the commissioning were Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, Chairman, Ijede LCDA, represented by Hon. Kabir Kareem, Vice Chairman, Ijede LCDA, High Chief Musediq Alliu, Regent, Ijede, Alhaji Fola Salu, IDF Chairman, Otunba Lanre Kuye, Director, Information & Public Relations, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), among others.
