It has been celebration galore on THE IMPACT loop, as a very popular broadcast teacher with the Mass Communication Department of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Dr. Steven Anu’ Adesemoye, completed his Doctorate at the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
Dr. Adesemoye, who is the Chief Administrator on the IMPACT platform where we have many other lecturers, students and staff from the LASUSTECH (formerly Lagos State Polytechnic), has been away for about two years in pursuit of his academic laurel.
Steve is a broadcast educator, TV content director, film and script writer, Public Relations and Brand expert.
His thesis for the doctoral programme is titled: “Reception of Paranormal Depictions in Selected Nollywood Films: A Comparative Cultural Analysis of Living in Bondage: Breaking Free and Thunderbolt among Nigerian Viewers in Nigeria and Canada”, with specialization in ‘Glocalised Pop Culture, Cultural Film Policy and Film Audiencing’.
Some of his papers already published in international journals are: Perception and Acceptance of Nollywood as Nigeria’s Cultural Ambassador among University Students, European Journal of Communication and Media Studies, 2023; Rethinking Nollywood: An Examination of Nigeria’s Cultural Film Policy, Journal of African Languages & Literary Studies, 2023, and Proliferation of Internet Protocol Televisions (IPTV) and Cultural Discounts amongst Nigerian Millennials: A Study of Mass Communication Students of Lagos State Polytechnic, NTAtvc Journal of Communication, 2021.
Mr Hassan Ekundayomi, General Secretary, LAPSOTECH Alumni Association, Lagos branch and a lecturer, congratulating Adesemoye, described his feat on THE IMPACT platform, as remarkable.
“Dr. Steven Anu’ Adesemoye has successfully completed his PhD at the University of Malaya, Malaysia. Let’s take a moment to celebrate his remarkable achievement!”, he said.
“Please, join me in congratulating Dr. Steven Anu’ Adesemoye on this significant accomplishment…”, he added.
A former LASPOTECH Rector, Engr, Ayodeji Iginla, who is also as member of the platform, in his own comment, simply stated:
“Congratulations, Steven!”.
Princess Adetope Kosoko, a former Registrar, LASPOTECH, in her own congratulatory message, wrote:
“Congratulations, Dr (Prince) Steven Anuoluwapo Adesemoye”.
Another former Registrar of the former Lagos State Polytechnic, Chief Sikiru Adetona, also congratulating the scholar, stated:
“Congratulations, Dr Steven”.
A former Head of Department, Mass Communication (LASUSTECH), Mr Ade Thomas Inasa, also congratulating Adesemoye, said:
“Congratulations, my dear brother. Greater heights. More laurels”.
Owolabi Anifowoshe, a prominent political figure in Ikorodu and social commentator, also congratulating the newest academic don, wrote:
“Great one. Congratulations sir”.
A retired primary school head teacher, Mrs Bisi Bello Mustapha, in her own reaction, said:
“My person! Congratulations! It’s a great achievement indeed!”
A former student of LASPOTECH and social commentator, Lady of Substance, congratulating her former teacher, also wrote:
“@Dr Steven, congratulations and welcome back home sir”.
A Mass Communication graduate from LASPOTECH, and now agropreneur, Arinola Okeowo, described the feat as super cool.
“Awwwww. Congratulations, my daddy, I am super proud of you sir”, she said.

‘Bosun Odeyemi, a Brand/PR expert, who congratulated and welcome the scholar vack home with a poem titled, ‘Ode to Dr. Steve Anu Adesemoye’, urged him on the need to continue ensuring professionalism in branding.
