The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo – Olu, on Sunday, joined other eminent personalities in celebrating the 85th birthday anniversary of the First Secretary to the First Civilian Governor in the State, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, J.Pil. FCIB.
Basorun, who is a chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), was also joined by His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Barr. Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo who led members of the Adeboruwa – in – Council, to the special thanksgiving service.
Sanwo – Olu was represented at the event held at the Gospel Church of Cherubim and Seraphim, Oke Ayo Irapada, Orile Iganmu, Lagos, by his Chief of Staff, Mr Toyin Ayinde who was also joined by the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, (FICMC, MCArB), former Deputy Governor of the State, Sir (Prince) Abiodun Ogunleye, KJW, Sen. Anthony Adefuye, former Lagos Senator and chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC).
Also at the service were: chieftains of the GAC, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and top government functionaries among whom are Senator Tokunbo Abiru, Senator representing the Lagos East, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun, representative, Ikorodu Constituency II, Dr Nurudeen Agbaje, Special Adviser, Rural Development and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Mutiu Are, Senator Gbenga Ashafa, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, APC State Chairman, Hon. (Dr) Adeola Jokomba, State Secretary, Asipa Kaoli Olusanya, former Commissioner for Agriculture, Hon. Tunde Balogun, former State APC Chairman, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, former representative Ikorodu Constituency II, Lagos State House of Assembly and Mr Waheed Kasali, Permanent Secretary, Office of the Special Adviser on Education.
Sermon for the special birthday thanksgiving was delivered by His Grace, Baba Aladura Henry Adewale Odunayo, on the topic,” Celebrating the 85th birthday thanksgiving of our father, Baba Aladura Basorun”.
He described the anniversary as a day of thanksgiving and celebration, and read from the Book of Psalm 10: 4, Psalm 22:3.
“I shall read from the Book of Psalm, because today is a day of thanksgiving and celebration of our father, and I see this celebration as a landmark because he clocked 85 in good health, happiness, and I can see him happy and dancing”, he said.
“Baba has every reason to be thankful, and he must always be grateful and thankful to God. It is worthy to note that the Book of Psalm was written by David whom God described as a man before his heart. David won God’s heart because he knew how to praise God”.
The preacher said that the celebrant has reasons to be thankful to God, because he has attained full age, accomplished in life, he is favoured by God, has protection of God and enjoys God’s blessings.
Baba Aladura Odunayo prayed that God should grant the celebrant good health and happiness to celebrate 90 and above.
The Supreme Head, Cherubim & Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, His Most Eminence, Pro. Dr. Solomon A. Alao, J.Pil., offered special prayers for the celebrant.
The Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Builder Sesan Daini, led Hon. Wasiu Adekunle Agoro, Chairman, Imota LCDA, Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, Chairman, Ijede LCDA, Hon. (Otunba) Sulaimon Kazeem Olanrewaju, Chairman, Ikorodu West LCDA and Hon. Adeola Banjo, Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, among other council bosses, to the event.
