The Rotary year under the administration of Rotaractor (Barr.) Adeleke Aroyewun as the 7th President, Rotaract Club of Ikorodu Golden, kicked off with impacts which underscored what to expect from the young and committed community developer and highly resourceful lawyer.
Aroyewun took over from Rtr. Abdullahi A. Hamzat PHF, the 6th President of Rotaract Club of Ikorodu Golden District, at a royal investiture ceremony held at the Megalite Hall, HOMAT Event Centre, Igbogbo on Sunday, October 15, 2023.
At the ceremony, the new Rotaract President empowered four youths with traditional sewing machine, industrial sewing machine, makeup and catering equipment, to set a high standard of what to expect under his watch.
Accepting the Presidency of the Rotaract Club of lkorodu Golden, Aroyewun said that he will do everything to protect the trust of his club that believe in him by conferring the exalted position on him, and the guests that came around to support him.
“My sincerest thanks to you all for joining me today as I stand before you, with a heart filled with gratitude and a sense of profound responsibility, as I humbly accept the role of President of Rotaract Club of Ikorodu Golden. It is an honour that I do not take lightly, and I am deeply humbled by the trust you have placed in me to lead our club into the future”, he said.
“First and foremost, I want to give thanks to God Almighty for making this day a reality. I also want to express my sincere appreciation to the outgoing president, the board and the entire leadership team for their dedication and hard work over the past year.
“Your tireless efforts have set a high standard for service, and I am committed to building upon your achievements and to continue the remarkable legacy you have built”, he said.
While commending sponsors that have been collaborating with the club, Aroyewun also solicited for their assistance, and that of others in partnering with him to have a successful tenure.
“It is incumbent upon me to also recognize our generous sponsors of Rotary Club of Ikorodu Golden, we extend our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation. Your unwavering support has enabled us to carry out impactful community projects and initiatives, making a positive difference in the lives of many. Thank you for your dedication to our club’s mission and for being a vital part of our Rotary family”, Aroyewun said.
“I look forward to further strengthen this partnership during my tenure”.
He unveiled his projects for the 2023.24 Rotary year, seeking for support from the public – spirited individuals, groups and corporate bodies, in the implementation of the projects.
Among the proposed projects by the Rotaract Club of lkorodu Golden under the leadership of Aroyewun, are: Visitation to Orphanage, Tree Planting: Supporting the Environment, Youth Vocational Empowerment: Community & Economic Development, Donation of Food packs to Community: Community & Economic Development, Donation of Furniture and White Board Marker to Schools: Basic Education and Literacy and Donation of Computer Sets to Primary School: Basic Education and Literacy.
Other proposed projects are: Clean Up Project: Disease Prevention and Control, Donation of Borehole: Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Fitness Session and Medical Outreach: Disease Prevention and Control, Donation of Benches to Primary Health Centre and Donation to First Baby of the year: Maternal and Child Health Care, Donation to Rotary Foundation and Anti-cultism symposium Awareness against cultism: Peace and Conflict Prevention.
Rtr. Abdullahi A. Hamzat PHF, the outgone 6th President of Rotaract Club of Ikorodu Golden District 9110, Nigeria, said that his administration encountered many challenges but triumphed with records of achievements in term of projects that impacted on the community and members.
“With our numerous interventions, ranging from the Basic Education & Literacy Project, Peace & Conflict Prevention/Resolution Project, Empower the Girl Child Project, Medical Outreach Project which was not just to our immediate community but also on a broader scale. And also our efforts in recharging the ecosystem and environmental clean-up initiatives to adapt to the climate change. With all concerted efforts from few clubs in the District, birth a face lift of a Bore Hole water facility at Panko Community in Badagry. All thanks to the lmaginative District Rotaract Representative, Rtr. Afolabi A. Abdullahi, for providing leadership for the success of the landmark project”, he said.
While passing on the baton to Rotarian Aroyewun, the outgone President called for the continuation of collaboration and partnership which, according to him, have been assisting the club in achieving great things.
“Our achievements underscore the spirit of collaboration, innovation and dedication that have been the cornerstone of the Imagine Rotary Year. However, each laurel serves as a reminder of the countless sleepless nights and boundless determination that went into each project, innovation and endeavor we embarked upon”, he said.
“But let us not forget that these laurels are not merely accolades to be admired, but also remind us of the responsibilities that lie ahead.
“As I pass the touch of leadership to the 7th President of Rotaract Club of Ikorodu Golden, let us remember that the legacy we leave behind is not just one of awards, but of impact. It is the lives changed, the challenges overcome and the lasting contributions we have made to our community that truly define the 2022/2023 Imagine Rotary Year.
“As I handover the reign to my successor, I do so with all sense of pride and humility. I am confident of your expertise and ability to go beyond the current status of the club. I appeal to all asundery to continue to support the cause of the club at any time of intervention”, Rotarian Hamzat said.
At the investiture ceremony were: Dr Taiwo Hassan, Medical Director/Chief Executive Officer, General Hospital, Ikorodu, Mr Gbenga George Odunniyi, former President, Igbogbo Youth Coalition (IYC), Comrade Kazeem Ogunmuyiwa, President, IYC and Trustee, National Union of Local Government Employee (NULGEE), Lagos State Chapter, Mr Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun, Barr. Leke Bakare, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Olalekan Biliamin Oba, State Chairman, NYCN and many other guests.

Early Life
Adeleke Aroyewun was born 18th October, into the Aroyewun Royal Family, one of the constituent Royalties of the Onadugba Wing, Rademo Ruling House of Ikorodu, Gbarule Ruling House of Egbin Kingdom and Demu Adejiyan Ruling House of Ojora. He is an expert in Real Estate Consultancy, Property Management, Arbitration and Community Development, holding an LLB from the University of Lagos and a Bachelor of Law (BL) from the Nigerian Law School, Abuja. Additionally, he is an Associate Member, Chartered Institute of Arbitration, UK and Member, Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
Adeleke developed his passion for community development and humanitarian service right from his formative years, he became the Director of Studies, Igbogbo Students’ Union in 2014, and later rose through ranks to become President of the same organization in 2016. He served as Pioneer Speaker, National Association of Ikorodu Division Students and President, National Union of Lagos State Students, University of Lagos Branch, in 2017.
ROTARACT ACTIVITIES
Adeleke draws his inspiration from the words of Martin Luther King, Jnr, “An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity”.
He became a chartered member of Rotaract Club of Ikorodu Golden in 2016, and served as the Chartered Vice-President, and has, since then, served the organization in several capacities at both Club, District and Multi-District level such as Chartered, Vice President, (RAC Ikorodu Golden, 2016-2018), Project Service Chair, RAC Ikorodu Golden,(2019) Co-Chair, Membership Seminar (2020), Member, MDIO Bye-Law Review Committee (2022), Chair, Club Assembly (2022). Aside serving as President, he is currently onboard as Member, Professional Service Committee, at the District level.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES
Apart from his involvement in Rotaract, Adeleke is well-rooted in community service. He is the legal adviser to several community initiatives notably, Igbogbo Youth Coalition, Ikorodu Division Youth Initiative, LeAP Management Team among others. He is an unrepentant advocate for youth development and involvement in governance and nation building.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
On a professional level, Adeleke serves on the board of Amen City Ltd (a leading real estate firm in Lagos and the developers of Amen Estate), as Senior Sales Executive and Legal Adviser. He is also the Chief Legal Officer (CLO), Adeleke Aroyewun Solicitors (Igbalode Chambers), a Property Law firm located in Ikorodu.
