Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, a chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), has been described as a sage who has impacted greatly on his community, his followers and humanity at large, as the elder statesman turned 85 years.
Basorun, a former Secretary to the First Civilian Governor in Lagos State, late Alhaji Lateef Kayode Jakande (Baba Kekere), and a political giant, celebrates his birthday every October 15.
A former aspirant for the Ikorodu Constituency Il seat in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hameed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA), in a release today, celebrated the celebrant whom he described as a sage.
“I celebrate the blessing of God in the life of my dear father, mentor, political compass and great leader, His Eminence Asiwaju Reuben Olorunfunmi Basorun”, he said.
“It’s a great pleasure to celebrate your 85th birthday with you again. It looks like a moment ago that we celebrated your 80th birthday with all glitz and glamour, 5 years later, it looks like you never aged. I thank God for this special grace of keeping you up till this moment”.
Aroyewun said that the celebrant, as a leader, has a genuine love for his people and still remains active and engaging for the development of his community.
“Baba, you remain the most impactful leader I know, a leader who is genuinely in love with his followers, and deliberate about the growth of his followers, you are a reputed leader of many generations”, he said.
“Another remarkable angelic trait you possess is your love for your community, your age long sacrifice and devotion to make it better has turned around the fortunes of the community, up till today, you still hold meetings with government officials and write letters to the Governor regarding the state of infrastructure in your community.
“You are a gift to this world, and we know people like you is so hard to come by, usually a generational grant. I pray for more strength and that you live longer and forever.
“Happy birthday, Igbogbo’s Greatest Asset and Blessing”, Aroyewun said.
