The Easygold Initiative for Mental Health was, on Monday, October 2, 2023, successfully launched through an online event that brought together stakeholders, mental health experts, and concerned individuals from around the world.
The initiative was launched in commemoration of the birthday of its convener, Mr. Temidayo Hassan, a lecturer, innovator and public analyst.
Easygold Initiative is aimed at promoting mental health awareness, reduce stigma, and provide resources and support for individuals struggling with mental health issues. The launching event was a significant milestone in advancing the cause of mental health and garnered widespread attention and support.
The launch event featured a diverse panel of speakers, including mental health experts, Dr. Banji Adesoji (Consultant Psychiatrist, General Hospita, Ikorodul), Mr. Oresajo Oyesanmi (Asst. Commander of Narcotics, NDLEA) and Dr. Oyekan, Adeolu (Academic). Their insights resonated with the audience and underscored the importance of the initiative.
The event included interactive session on various aspects of mental health, such as stress management, coping strategies, and the importance of self-care. Drug related issues were also discussed.
According to the initiator, Mr Temidayo, Easygold is a self – funding venture which is being supported by few individuals. He added that support is being expected from corporate organizations, political office holders and more importantly, community’s collaborations that will further enhance the initiative’s reach and impact.
Explaining the objectives of the initiative, the Convener said that the non – governmental and non – profit making body was established to tackle the risEadying challenges of mental health through a multi-dimensional approaches.
“The Easygold Initiative for Mental Health was conceived as a response to the growing global mental health crisis. Recognizing the need for a holistic approach to mental health, the initiative’s primary objectives are: to increase awareness and understanding of mental health issues to reduce stigma and discrimination and offer easy access to resources, tools, and information for individuals seeking help or support”, he said.
“It will advocate for mental health as an essential component of overall well-being and happiness and build a supportive and empathetic online community where individuals can share their experiences and seek support”.
Speaking on the success of the online launch of the initiative, Temidayo also said that the outcome has set stage for some actions that his team will be embarking on there executions.
“The Easygold Initiative for Mental Health’s launch event was a resounding success, marking the beginning of a promising journey towards improved mental health awareness and support. With a robust platform and growing community engagement, Easygold is well-positioned to make a meaningful impact on the lives of individuals struggling with mental health challenges”, he said.
“The success of the launching set the stage for the following actions: Continual Awareness Campaign efforts to raise awareness about mental health issues and the resources available through Easygold initiative and Content Creation by regularly update the online platform with informative articles, videos, and tools to empower individuals in managing their mental health.
Also, “Community Building by fostering a supportive online community where individuals can share their experiences, seek advice, and provide encouragement and Research and Advocacy through collaboration with experts to conduct research, influence policy changes, and advocate for improved mental health services globally.
