The Ikorodu Local Government has inaugurated a Vigilance Group and Local Security Joint Task Force, as part of the council’s effort in strengthening the security situation in Ikorodu.
According to a statement on the Council’s Facebook page, Chairman of the Council, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina, inaugurated the outfit on Monday, about two years after the six Chairmen in Ikorodu Division vowed to establish their own security architecture to be named, ‘Ikorodu Division Security Trust Fund’, to provide necessary funding and support for the fight against crimes in the division.
To achieve the trust fund plan, the councils, at the press conference in March, 2022, at the office of the Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government, off TOS Benson Avenue, vowed to setup individual’s Local Joint Task Forces.
With the inauguration of the Vigilance Group and Local Security Joint Task Force by Hon. Adeshina, Ikorodu LG joined the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA and Imota LCDA, who have put their own vigilance team in place.
At the ceremony, which also featured the presentations of vehicles and motorcycles to the local security outfit, to enhance their patrol and surveillance across lkorodu community, were Baales, political leaders, Community Development Committee (CDC)/Community Development Association (CDA), Police, DSS and other stakeholders.
