Otunba Tijani Jimoh Olasunkanmi, the Divisional LGA Chairman, Ikorodu Division, All Progressives Congress (APC), has urged members of the party and the generality of Ikorodu residents that they should accept the positions that have been given to Ikorodu so far, while the leadership would continue to ask for more appointments.
Tijani, also said that the acceptance by the State structure of the ruling party, to allow another lkorodu man to replace the immediate past Secretary of the party in the State, Hon. Sunmi Odesnya who himself is an Ikorodu man, is a recognition.
The Ikorodu APC Chairman, spoke with THE IMPACT at the State secretariat of the party at ACME, Ikeja, during the inauguration of Hon. Jokomba as the acting State Scribe of the party.
“The acceptance that another Ikorodu man should replace Hon. Sunmi Odesanya as the State Secretary of our dear parry, portends recognition and compensation; compensation for service and performance and getting what is yours. It may not be automatic for the Secretaryship to come back to Ikorodu after the exit of Sunmi Odesanya, but because the party has been faithful to Ikorodu, that was why they granted our wish for one of us to still be there”, Otunba Tijani said.
Otunba Tijani, who was a former Chairman, Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA) like Jokomba, assured party members of Jokomba’s capacity to deliver on his new position of responsibility.
“I know Jokomba very well. He is a man known for performance. He is always dedicated to his duties. Looking back at the time when he was the Council Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA. The record is there to verify. If he was not the best then, he should be in the second position. But I can tell you, he was the best at that time”, he said.
“In the same vein, I believe that he would do his best as the Secretary of our party. He would deliver”, Otunba Tijani added.
Appealing to Ikorodu people to accept the two cabinet positions, one non – cabinet position and now State Secretary of the party which has been allocated to Ikorodu, the APC Divisional Chairman added that Ikorodu would continue to request for more positions that commensurate with its size and contributions.
“To the people of Ikorodu, we should accept what the party has been able to give to us, notwithstanding, we will continue to ask for more. It can never be enough”, he appealed.
“Don’t forget that Ikorodu is now larger than what it used to be in the 90s when we started. That was the time when Erunwen was having about two or three houses. Erunwen is now a town on its own. So, we need more appointments to cater for the people”.
