The two matches that kicked off the 2023 Adeboruwa Cup ended in draws as hostilities began among football clubs and football playing communities in Igbogbo and it’s environs.
At the UAMC (Eleja) Primary School, along the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road, Igbogbo, on Friday, Ife – Oluwa FC played a 1 – 1 draw with Pineapple Estate in a very interesting opener.
While jersey No. 7 player, Ayodele Ibrahim gave the home team a lead in the very first minute of the opening encounter, Doctor, the away team striker, equalised in 33rd minute.
The Center Referee for the match was Alagbe Adeyinka, while Makinde Kazeem and Lawal Ridwan were Assistant Referees. The Match Commissioner was, Agboola T.O.
The second match on the opening day between the Otugbuwa FC and Okunuga FC, also ended in a draw with both teams playing 0 – 0.
Makinde Kazeem was incharge of the second match as the Centre Referee with Lawal Ridwan and Alagbe Adeyinka as Assistant Referees. Agboola T.O, was the Match Committee.
Meanwhile, organisers of the tournament have stated that matches slated for Saturday, which is the Day 2, were unable to hold because of the flooded pitch caused by the ceaseless rainfall on Saturday.
Match continue today at the UAMC Eleja Primary School, Igbogbo with Apalura FC playing against Igbe Laara in the first match.
In the second match of the day, Lajo FC will face Offin Ile FC and in the third match today, Agunfoye FC will be up against the Federal Housing FC
