Fans were shocked on Tuesday, when the death of rising artiste, songwriter and former Marlian music act, Oladimeji Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as ‘Mohbad’, was announced on the social media.
Mohbad, 27, last performed in Ikorodu Town Hall, on Sunday, where he entertained many of his fans who had great time. However, is death has been trailed by controversies as many reasons have been adduced for his untimely death.
Initially, his fans alleged that he was killed by his former boss, Naira Marley and his crew, but there has also been a leaked chat from his phone which also alleged that he was hit with juju during his performance in Ikorodu on Sunday, which happened to be his last.
Meanwhile, there is also rumor that the singer died of ear infection.
Mohbad will be remembered for his hit singles: Peace, Ask About Me, Ponmo, Feel Good, and KPK (Ko Por Ke), with Rexxie which was nominated in three categories for the Headies Awards in 2022.
He was also nominated five times for The Beatz Awards in 2021.
He released his first EP, Light, after agreeing to a record deal with Marlian Records World in 2019. The eight songs on the EP features Davido, Naira Marley, and Lil Kesh.
The talented singer was listed in Audiomack’s top 21 Afrobeat artists of 2021.
In 2022, he released Peace produced by Rexxie. He peaked TurnTable charts top 50 in 2021, and top 100 in 2022.
Mohbad was arrested in February 2022, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) alongside Zinoleesky and four others, at their home in Lekki, Lagos, for alleged possession of illegal substance.
The artiste, who was popular among youths in Ikorodu, had, early August, visited his former neighbourhood in the town where he grew up. He was greeted with warm welcome by his childhood friends and residents who commended him for remembering his base.
