-Unveils plans

In compliant with the directive of the Lagos State Government, a retired Principal and an active community developer, Mr Ayo Ajayi has been elected as the Chairman of the most formidable Community Development Association (CDA) in Ikorodu Division and Lagos in general, Lajo CDA.
Ajayi, who was elected alongside other executives at a congress oversaw by the officials of the Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area (LCDA), at the Lajo Primary School Compound on Thursday, was the immediate Past General Secretary of the CDA, a retired Referee and a teacher.
The13 zones of the CDA: Ogo – Oluwa Oduntan Estate, Crown Odubajo Estate, Harmony Estate, Bolarinwa Estate, Ifelaja Estate, Favourite Estate, Salvation Estate, Star Estate, Asewiyan Estate, Fish Pond Estate, Royal Estate. Oke – Ogo Estate and Poyiki Estate, participated in the congress.
The new community officials were inaugurated, and charged to sustain the achievements of the immediate past excos, and also improve on them.
Other excos inaugurated are: Comrade Adeniran Adeniyi Timothy (Vice chairman 1), Mr. Adebogun Abayomi Akeem (Vice Chairman II), Kalu Martins (Asst. Secretary), Alh. Idowu Ibrahim Abiodun (Treasurer), Mr Olaniyi Adekunle (Financial secretary), Mr. Oduntan Rasaki Adewale (Welfare officer), Mr. Kasali Tijani Shokeyo (Social secretary), Mr. Dayo Richard (P.R.O) and Mr. Oluwasegun Abimbola Kunlire (Auditor).
The Community Officer, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, Mrs Adepeju Haliya Ogunmuyiwa who supervised the congress, presented the Certificate of Registration, Minutes book and other documents of the association, to the new executives who were given the mandate to determine the three new ex – officios with two out of the slots reserved for women.
Mr Ayo Ajayi, speaking with THE IMPACT, after the inauguration, explained that the new administration will developed the plans started by the last administration, among which are further development of Lajo Primary and Secondary Schools and creation of more CDAs out of the large Lajo CDA.
“In actual fact, the last administration in where l served as the General Secretary, developed great plans for the development of the community, and we are going to execute them one after the other. Among the plans that we have is the completion of the fencing of a primary school in Lajo community ”, he said.
“Another plan is to install the new transformer that was recently donated to us by the local government. That is our next project after the completion of the fence, and of course, power holding authority has also promised that they are bringing another 500KVA transformer to this community, which we are expecting.
“Our senior school, which is Lajo Senior Secondary School is in progress and doing everything to make it a reality. What we needed in that place now is for the government to take over and gives the school a befitting building, and also starts paying teachers who are being paid by the community.
“Those are our plans and the government, by the special grace of God, will listen to our calls, and assist us in the development our community. We will not allow them to rest, will continue to trouble them, and encourage them to come and assist us”, he said.
Ajayi, also speaking on the demand of residents to create a new CDA(s) out of the existing Lajo CDA, said that the process is ongoing and assured that it would receive positive attention of the council authority.
“In actual fact, the last administration called for memorandum from different zones. We received about nine of them which were collated and sent to the council with a covering letter. They are now receiving serious attention.
“The feedback that I am getting from them is positive. We are going to get it very soon. However, the council has asked us to first do our election after which the new CDA will be granted approval”.
Alhaji Qudus Oduntan, Chairman, Caretaker Committee, speaking at the election/inauguration, said that the congress was the first time that the community would be having harmonized executives that cut across all the units of the CDAs, made the election racor free.
He thanked the community traditional leader, land owing family and residents for their cooperation.
Oduntan also charged residents on the need to cooperate with the new executives and support them in moving the community forward.
The Baale of Lajo Community, Chief Waliu Oduntan, in his royal message, charged members of the new executive council, to be committed to the course of the community and devote their time to its development.
He charged them to build on the development achieved by the community.
“If you look at the developments that we have achieved in the last few years, you will see that it is a challenge for you to continue with such developments. On our own, we have developed Health Centre, Primary School, Junior and Secondary School and a link road”, Baale Oduntan said.
“These are projects that we initiated and executed as a community and these must be sustained”.
He also pleaded with the new excos to be tolerant and also accommodate their respective views, adding that he will always be available to assist in resolving issues whenever he is needed.
