It was a day of joy for the residents of Igbe – Oguro and Oloja Community in ljede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), which has been existing without a public school, on Thursday, as the Chairman of the council, Hon. (Alhaja) Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, laid the foundation for a modern school for the community.
According to the Council Chairman, the ground breaking ceremony for the Igbe Oguro Community Model Primary School, was in fulfilment of her promise to the residents during her electioneering campaign.
At the ceremony, two blocks of six classrooms with an ICT Room, was laid for the school which has been approved for takeoff by the government.
Speaking with reporters, Hon. Alogba also revealed that the project would be completed in six months and served Igbe Oguro and Oloja when completed.
“We are here today, for the groundbreaking of Igbe – Oguro Primary School. We intend building a primary school for this community which has been without any public school since its inception”, she said.
“This community has been existing for years without any school and part of my campaign promises was to build a school for them. The first level of the process is to get approval from the state and after the proper inspection was done, we got the approval and we are moving to site immediately for the construction which we are here today for”.
She pleaded with the stakeholders in the community to grant maximum support to the workers so that the project can be completed on time.
“I want to appeal to the Igbe – Oguro and Igbe – Oloja communities, to, please, support the contractor so that they will get the building completed as soon as possible. This is part of the dividends of democracy that we promised that we will bring to the people and they are getting it now”, she said.
The Managing Director, Care Builder Interactive Nigeria Limited, Mr Lawal Olalekan, the contractor handling the project, assured on the delivery of the project within the given timeframe.
“It is a modern school for the community, which they have been lacking for a very long time. We are here to construct 2 blocks of 3 classrooms each making 6, with an ICT room for them. Like I said, it is going to be a modern day primary school which will enhance the knowledge of the puplis within the community, which is what that they have been clamouring for a very long time. Thank God that Hon. Motunrayo Alogba has come around to start the work after facilitating the school”, he said.
“By the grace of Almighty God, we will be delivering the project within few months, and it will be handed over to the community for use.
“The school will have an ICT room with modern technology for e – library, and it will have a toilet too. It will also have a perimeter fence and water system. So, it is really going to be a modern school which this type of environment needed”, he added.
Some of the community leaders and residents that spoke at the ground breaking ceremony, commended the council chairman for bringing the school which they have been clamouring to them.
They said that the school would accommodate their children and others that are attending schools in Ijede and Igbogbo, which are miles away from the community.
