The lkorodu Local Government, has been honoured as one of the best 24 Council areas out of the 774 in the country, at the 2023 Nigerian Local Government Excellence Award.
The council also emerged as the best LG in the Southwest, at the award ceremony held in Abuja, on Thursday.
Hon. Wasiu Adesina, Chairman, Ikorodu LG who received the awarded with officials of the council, in a statement posted on the official Facebook page of the Ikorodu Local Government, announced the award, while he also expressed his delight.
He dedicated the award to the Ikorodu people, and added that it is a call for more work to be done.
“I am delighted to be honoured with an Award of Excellence as one of the 24 best Local Government Chairman in Nigeria, at the Nigerian Local Government Excellence Award (LOGEXA) 2023”, the Chairman said.
“I dedicate this award to the good people of Ikorodu, for believing in this mandate and for your unflinching support towards this administration.
“This indeed is a call for more work, as the reward for good work is more work. We are poised to beam spotlight on Ikorodu Local Government and its people”.
Hon. Adebowale Adebola, the Council Leader, Ikorodu LG, commenting on the award on his social media handle, said that the feat was achieved through hard work and dedication.
“Success is not by accident, it is by hard work, perseverance, commitment, dedication, sacrifice and most of all, love for what you are doing and passion for development”, he said.
“Another feat for Ikorodu LGA through the performances, dedication of the Executive Chairman of Ikorodu LGA, Legislative Arm, Civil servants and other stakeholders.
“Ikorodu LGA nominated as one of the Best Working LGAs in Nigeria, and IKD LGA carried the Gold…Congratulations Wadesh..”.
Also at the award ceremony to support the Chairman, were the former Deputy Governor, Lagos State and chieftain of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), Prince Abiodun Ogunleye, Hon. (Dr) Abike Dabiri – Erewa, OON, Chairman, Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, Sen. Tokunbo Abiru, Senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, Rep. Babajimi Benson, the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Benson, Hon. Omotayo Awolesi, Councilor, Alhaji Lateef Afinni, Secretary to the Ikorodu Local Government, Alhaji Oyefusi, a supervisory Councilor, Mr Adeleke Akadiri, former Director General, Adesina Campaign among others.
