Another honour came the way of Miss Rufai Azeezat Dolamu, an Ijede indigene who emerged as the best graduating student from Ikorodu Division, at the last graduation ceremony of the Lagos State University, Ojo, held about two months ago.
Dolamu was presented with a cheque of N1million by the Chairman of Ijede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo Alogba, at the council secretariat on Thursday.
Dolamu graduated with CGPA 4.74 from the department of Biochemistry.
The young graduate, who is the President, Ijede students’ Union (ISU), was accompanied by her mother, Mrs Rufai and her sister.
THE IMPACT had reported severally on her feat which has also been recognized by the Ikorodu Divisiuon Resource Development Group (IDRDG), under the Chairmanship of Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe. The body honoured Dolamu and other distinction graduates from lkorodu, with award plaques and monetary compensation, at a special award ceremony organised in their honour.
Hon. Motunrayo Gbadebo – Alogba, during the presentation, said that the council’s gesture was to appreciate Dolamu for her academic feat and also use her remarkable achievement to inspired other students to aim at such academic attainment.
She charged other students in Ijede to emulate Dolamu’s dedication and commitment to education and community development which has made her an excellent and celebrated student.
Speaking with THE IMPACT, Dolamu, who said that the achievement meant the world to her, thanked the Council Chairman, for the monetary gesture.
The distinction student, who said that she has been encouraged to go further in her academic pursuit, also promised to be committed more to the community development.
“I am deeply grateful and honored to have been granted the 1-million-naira cash gift in recognition of my academic excellence. This achievement means the world to me, and I want to express my sincere appreciation to my family and to God, for their unwavering support throughout my educational journey”, she said.
“This honor serves as a reminder of the value of hard work and dedication, and I promise to make the most of this opportunity. As I move forward in my educational explorations, I am hopeful for more sponsorships that will enable me reach new heights in my studies.
“I am committed to giving back to the community that has shaped me, and I promise to return to Ijede to contribute in meaningful ways. Together, we can make a positive impact, and I am excited about the future and the possibilities it hold. Thank you again for this incredible honor, and I look forward to the promising journey ahead”, she added.
