There has been remarkable progress on the ongoing rehabilitation of a block of classrooms at the Local Government Primary School, Oreta in Igbogbo/Bayeku Local Council Development Area of Ikorodu Division, Lagos State, Southwest, Nigeria, by the lkorodu Division Peace lnitiative Limited (IDPIL).
The rehabilitation of a block of six classrooms with about 12 toilets, started a few days back.
The particular structure being rehabilitated was constructed in the 1970s, and was in bad shape, while the other, which was constructed in 1948, when the school was established, is in a terrible state.
IDPIL had intervened in the school rehabilitation, after the reports by THE IMPACT newspaper which brought the terrible situation at the school, to the fore.
The education committee of the IDPIL, chaired by Sir (Otunba) Ayodele Elesho, KJW, with THE IMPACT team, visited the school, for an on the spot assessment.
When our reporter visited the school on Wednesday, construction work was ongoing.
The replacement of the entire building’s ceiling has been completed, while the wood works that would hold the roof have also been fixed.
Speaking with our reporter on Wednesday, Otunba Elesho said:
“We are almost at the completion stage of the project, with some serious issues to still be attended to”.
Meanwhile, the Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, few days ago, laid the foundation for the building of a new block of classrooms in the school.
The council chairman, Builder Sesan Daini, had told THE IMPACT last month that his administration would also be intervening in the school which has been neglected for years.
