There are strong indications that the construction giant, HiTech may return to site to continue the abandoned Igbogbo – Bola Ahmed Tinubu – Afa – Igbe Laara – Gintin Road .
The reconstruction of the road, which connects the six council area and Local Coluncil Development Area (LCDA) in Ikorodu Division, started about seven years ago.
At the moment, THE IMPACT cannot confirm if the proposed return is to continue the project properly or provide palliative measures to the road which has made lives helish for residents and other road users.
Officials of the Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC) were seen along the road on Wednesday, with officials of the HiTech Construction Company, including the company’s Site Manager for the Agric – Owutu road, who is also overseeing the project in Igbogbo.
In a chat with the representative of the Ikorodu Constituency II, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Abiodun Moshood Aro (AMA), he confirmed to our reporter that his office is working with the necessary ministry of the government and stakeholders to ensure that the construction giant is back on site.
He assured that there would be action on the road, as soon as the rain subsides.
At a meeting at the weekend, between His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa (Oba) Barr. Semiudeen Orimadegun Kasali, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, and the Think Tank Forum (TTF) of the Ebute – Igbogbo – Bola Tinubu – Igbe Laara – Gintin Road, held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, we gathered that the royal father assured the team of the return of the construction firm to site.
“His Royal Majesty, Oba of Igbogbo Kingdom, informed TTF that there is a very strong assurance by His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, that HiTech Contractors will, by the grace of God, return to site in August/September, 2023”, Chairman, TTF on the Abandoned and Deplorable Road Projects from Igbogbo to Gintin, Dr Olatunji Ekemode, told THE IMPACT.
You will recall that the HiTech manager also mentioned the possibility of returning to site for palliative measures at a meeting with the Igbogbo Youth Coalition (IYC), after members of the group prevented the company’s workers from removing construction materials from the Igbogbo site to another, last month.
Residents of the affected areas have , for years, have been appealing to the state government to expedite action on the road before the contractor abandoned the road which, we gathered, was due to non release of funds by the government.
