Ikorodu youths have been challenged to endeavour to proffer solutions to the myriads of challenges confronting Ikorodu, if they are to make any meaningful impacts.
Barr. Saheed Osuolale Kolawole Shillings, the keynote speaker at the inauguration and public presentation of the new executive committee for the Ikorodu Division Youth Initiatives (IDYI), at the Oteju Hall of the Ikorodu Ultra – Modern Town Hall on Saturday, July 29, 2023, gave the charge.
At the ceremony, Oluwakeji Onabajo was inaugurated as the IDYI Executive Director, while Kolejo Fathia Adedotun took office as the Deputy Executive Director.
The speaker also charged the new excos to ensure that the generality of youths who, according to him, are the strength and bedrock of development in any given community, are mobilized towards positive action.
He also charged them to go beyond the ordinary engagements and the usual empowerment, by mapping out practicable plans and take up the responsibility of leadership to galvanise others for developmental projects.
Shillings also charged them on the need to search for opportunities that would be of benefit to the youths.
A member of the IDYI BOT, Mr Seun Elesho also spoke to the new executives on the topic, ‘Continuous Self Development for Community Engagement’.
Others who were also sworn – in at the brief ceremony performed by Barr. Adeleke Aroyewun, were: Waliu Olalekan Adeyeri (Director of Administration), Lemmy Oduyebo (Director of Projects), Anthony Adedamola Ogunmokun (Director of Community Service and Volunteers), Adepoju Enitan Pelumi (Director of Media and Publicity) and Shodunke Wasiu Ademola (Director of Finance).
Also sworn-in were: Aliu Mubarak Adekunle (Director of NotTooYoungToRun), Sanni Taibat Adetutu (Director of Welfare), Oyebanjo Agboola Mustapha (Internal Auditor) and Lawal Nurudeen Olayiwola (Deputy Director of Administration).
Members of the IDYI Board of Trustees (BOT) that witnessed the ceremony were: Mr Oke Godwin OlaOluwa and Olusola Sokoya, BOT Secretary.
